I just returned to the game a couple of months ago. After leaving right after season 3. So I leveled my Tactical Reman KDF character to lvl 50, and now I'm wondering what ship to get. I've tried to research what are the best ships out there for pure dps. However everything I find is at least 8 months old and doesnt include all the new lock box ships. I'm looking for what is the best escort for dps as I am a tactical officer. I have the legacy pack unlocked, 2800zen to buy a cstore ship and around 160mil to buy a lock box ship if need be. Someone please help me figure out what ship I should get, and any links to tactical officer builds for end game pve are appreciated as well. Thank you for your time.
You like torps? Tvaro
You like the best all round? Jem hadar attack ship (may not be able to afford it)
You like big ships with cannons? Scimitar tac version
You want style points? Mobius temporal destroyer
My vote is for the tvaro, just so much awesome sauce. Pvp transphasics and pve rom hyper+plasmas. Has a lt.c universal for a lot of flexibility.
What kind of style do you like? Can really help narrowing this down
I like the smaller more agile ships like escorts. The Jem'hadar fighter is what I would love to have. Unfortunately I don't see myself ever having the 400mil to own one. It's a shame because I've loved the ship, since seeing it on DS9. Every other ship can be owned by me possibly. Just want the ship with the best dmg output because of console layout or whatever. Maneuverable high dps ship that comes with beneficial consoles maybe. I don't mind using torpedoes except I dont have any rep ones. Just started my Rom and Omega rep at tier 1
T'varo for something small and nimble with plenty of firepower. Even sans the torp stuff, just being a straight-up escort, it just handles really well, just shy of a BoP but without the BoP's fragility.
Alternately, the Mogai isn't quite as quick, and due to size gets a bit cumbersome, but the two-piece bonus and its boff layout can give it extra firepower and make it REALLY durable.
If you have the legacy pack you can get all the legacy ships fleet version for 1 module each, I use all the Fleet T'Varo, Fleet Dhelan, Fleet Mogai and the Scimitar the most on my tac, and sometimes the Fleet D'Deridex although not as much anymore since I got the scimitar, but I still use my other 3 fleet ships a lot after getting the scimitar.
You really need to make up your own mind, because there are many top-class escorts and destroyers available to the Romulan faction. This thread was written exactly to help you find the best choice according to your own criteria.
Just one concrete advice : stay clear from the Ar'kif retrofit until we know what the Fleet version will be.

I agree with this. I've got the T'Varo and Mogai retrofits but I'm eyeing the inevitable Fleet Ar'kif.
The T'Varo is a lot of fun. The Mogai is pretty ungainly. Its size suggests it should move more like a cruiser than an escort. The depth of field makes dogfighting somewhat lanky. One of the reasons why I'm interested in the Ar'kif is because it handles a lot better IMO than the Mogai. Plus I think it looks unbelievably good.
Thanks for all your help and input so far. I'm going to go with the temporal destroyer for now and try the tvaro retrofit later on. What console lay out should I go for if all I want is dps with the temporal destroyer? Also what do you guys think would be a good setup of bridge officer abilities? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The score is still out on specs and boffs i'm afraid.. this last update changed stuff thats causing ripple effects with a lot of people and across all factions ( ground shields and ship shields not healing etc ) the tac warbirds seemed to have gone from being very tanky little cruisers to being popcorn waiting to explode over night.. I'm sure cryptic is aware of this and working on it all, but i'd give it a few weeks as the ar'kif and ar'kala are going to take some time for people to work out a sufficient set up for..

Or go by someone's word and possibly end up with a ship you never, truly liked.
