well... about a year ago, i remembered reading several devs commenting on how they wanted to get the rest of the canon ships they had on the board done and ingame.. so i went to sto wiki, where they have that nice, whats coming down the pipeline type page, and also link where it was said, and when, and blah blah blah...
well, a few months short of a year agao, we were told by two of the more important people, that would be stahl and gekko, that we could expect to see the niagra, freedom, and other ships in game within a years time.. well.. is this another open mouth insert foot for them (adding to the ever growing pile of stuff they say and doesnt happen).. or are intentions still to throw out the last 3 or 4 canon ships they had on the drawing board.. in some of the stuff i was reading, they were as far as starting to make models for some of them...
this isnt a give me my ship now thread, just a thread asking whats up.. are they on the way, are they delayed (like everything else in the game) are we not getting them, what?
i for one have been patiently waiting for the niagra.. been looking forward to that ship.. would like to see it ingame..
Id really like to see a New Orleans class, Niagara as well! Curry class and Constellation too! Some of the best looking ships were part of the bashes that came from Wolf 359 graveyard and the Dominion War fleets. I too hope to see them!
im actually amazed anyone really cares when they turn up. half destroyed kitbash ships seen in one or two episodes. not exactly going to set the world on fire with sales. Im sure they will turn up eventually.
I wouldn't say there are a "Few" canonical ships left on the Federation side. I there is enough left over that we likely double the Federation ships we have now. :P
Aside from the various Kitbashes, I'm surprised they didn't add the Dauntless-class. Even though the original was an alien ship, the Federation obviously used the design during the Battle of Procyon.
Klingons still are missing:
K'Vort-class BoP
Regent's Negh'var (DS9)
Negh'var Varient / "VoD'leigh" type (TNG: Best of Both Worlds and VOY: Non Sequitur)
22nd Century BoP
D-5
D-4 (Model is already in game as the Koro'T'inga, but still be nice if there was a Tier 1 version).
Not to mention various Alien ships like Ferasan and Lethian designs.
Romulans are still missing:
Romulan D-7
Guess Cryptic assumed that players would just buy a K'T'inga during their leveling up and use the Gray Paintjob, but it's missing options for the Romulan Emblem and the Warbird.
Also would've been nice if we had the option for a Tier 5 version, where they were modernized with Singularity Cores.
Some of these ships sound like they would be better off as a another free costume variation rather than a completely new ship. So they wouldn't have to worry about Bridge Officer slots, console slots, or special consoles.
K'Vort Class Klingon Bird of Prey being most tactical Bird of Prey with 5 Tactical Consoles 5 Forward weapons 2 Aft weapons Universal Commander Universal Lt. Commander Universal Lieutenant Universal Lieutenant Universal Ensign and a Battle Cloak.
Why their still is no K'Vort Class Bird of Prey in game yet is strange.
Edit: Klingons really need a Bird of Prey that has more then just 4 bridge officer slots and 6 weapons. Romulans have when why not Klingons?
The main one I want is the original Nebula variant with the mini-warp nacelles instead of the mission pod. Another that would be nice to have is the one with the disk. they could even have new console powers to go with it.

well don tbe amazed, these ships have had a loyal calling in this game for some time.. i personally dont care if they are skin jobs, or a new ship (though i wouldnt mind a new ship for some of them, cause i know which ships they would be skin jobs for, and i dont like the layouts..)..
but.. even if they were destroyed on screen, there is plenty of models and pics of them before they were blown up.. and it doesnt mean they didnt exist.. not to mention, most other star trek games have been including them.. and last i checked, this was a star trek game, with probably alot of that fan base from past games here too..
all im saying is that they mentioned 4 ships, and mentioned a timeline for when we would see them.. and that time line is just about up.. and i havnt heard a peep about them..
but then again, this game shifted to wanna be romulans online.. if it isnt some sort of romulan thing, it isnt hitting the game anymore.. lol.. and i wouldnt be suprised, if the new content coming in season 8 revolves around the romulans somehow, and the fed and klinks are loosly involved.. (i know its the voth, but i can see cryptic somehow making their return more about the romulans than the feds somehow hahaha..).. even though they are from earth..

this has always boggled my mind... why hasnt cryptic released the other 2 pods for this class.. the pheonix sensor dish, and the long ger stardrive section, with the 2 aux. warp engines from best of both worlds.. and a model on a desk in star trek.. makes no sense.. kinda like there being no kvort class.. that was the primary ship in tng.. lol.. seen more than any other..

With Stahl recently hinting at they might be going through with the players assembling their own ships, maybe this would be best for the kitbashes.
Let players assemble their own kitbashed ships where some of the options are the canonical starships. You just have to own the C-store versions in order to unlock the pieces and you assemble it to how you like it. Certain pieces have certain characteristics that provides BOFF slots or console slots.
That way Cryptic could balance it with the main line of shipyard starships and the C-store starships.

The one with the mini-nacelles was actually a somewhat different ship with a completely different secondary hull so I'm not sure it actually counts as a "pod" that can be mounted on a regular Neb.;)

There are differences to be sure, but they're still similar enough for it to be an alternate skin for the Nebula.

Wouldn't mind having the studio model secondary hull as a variant added too.
vulcan surok (surak) class. the name is weird because it is refered to as surok, but i guess sloppy writing did that.
sloppy writing in star trek.. no....... end sarcasm lol.. i mean its not like the steamrunner was supposed to be streamrunner or anything like that ghahaha..
To me the New Orleans would be sweet as a Tac ship. Since its more of a Frigate type anyways. So that would make a killer ship. Something little bigger than the Prometheus and Defiant classes I'm using. The Niagara, would be cool as well. Another one I wanted. That can be a frigate, science ship, or something like a fast/strike cruiser. So that one can go with any captain.
As for the KDF, I been wanting to see the K'Vort come out. I think that one will be killer. However please make it the accurate large size it needs to be. Since its not your regular small BOP. That being said. It can go either Tac or Eng since it can be big enough for both.

Let's not forget the "Yesterdays Enterprise" Galaxy Class.
At least with that parallel universe ship the devs wouldn't have any excuse to make it the ship with the least firepower. In fact that ship does have some significant differences to the prime universe GCS, like a much bigger Crew and maybe stronger weapons and shields (maybe in exchange for less science or engineering). So Cryptic could make it a real Battleship like GCS, similar to the moonbosh but since Cryptics devs seem to have a antipathy towards the Galaxy Class, i am afraid we will never see such a ship in STO.
Like you i am surprised that we don't have the Dauntless in STO, at least it would look a lot better than most of cryptics designs IMO. I think it would be a really cool addition to STO, Cryptics devs easily could find a excuseto introduce that ship if they wanted to.
For the various alien ships, i would love to have a first Federation, Fesarius type ship.
As for the other Federation canon ship types like the niagara or new orleans i am not very exited about them. Cryptic should rather implement some means to upgrade our ships on our own, by selling different Bridge modules (BOFF&Console Layout configurations) for already existing ships.

I find this interesting. When the Nebula was released many felt Cryptic 'dropped the ball' by not offering the variant mission pods (triangular, oval, warp nacelle) saying they could have been tac/eng/sci themed variants. Fast forward a little bit and we have seen this with the Odyssey, Bortasqu', Vesta and others. Strange that didn't hit me until now.

Yeah, one of the odd things about the Nebula is that it's one of the few Fed ships with a console that CAN'T be equipped on other ships(except it's fleet version, etc). Also the description of the ship seemed to hint that there'd be more variants. It says something about how the mission pod can be swapped out to adapt to different combat environments... but only has one. It'd be nice to have more....

I would love to see the other variants. Maybe this is something that can be rehashed when the level cap increases. Would be nice to have a Nebula 3-pack, I've always liked that ship.
