Honestly, I don't think the Federation really needs a raw-DPS frigate class. The philosophy that Federation carrier pets seem to follow is more along the lines of ability-support roles, rather than pure DPS.
For that matter, I kinda wish the Romulans didn't have drone ships.
Then again, I'm a proponent of faction distinctiveness and uniqueness, something Cryptic seems to view as a minor consideration.
