No Win build question

jadensecurajadensecura Member Posts: 660 Arc User
I'm a PvEer, and I'd really like to become part of the elite group who've actually beaten No Win Scenario. So my question is, if I want to get there, what do I need? Faction, class, ship, consoles, everything is on the table here (although it could take me an awfully long time to get it, I do only play casually since I am a college student). And obviously I'd like builds for that stuff as well. I've listed the builds being used by my 3 current toons below, along with their approximate DPS in ISE pugs.

Recon Vesta (6k DPS)
Breen ship (5.5k DPS)
Corvette (7k DPS)

And I guess if those DPS numbers on those builds indicate that I'm just not a good enough player to beat No Win, I ought to know that too.

I have Omega and Rom Rep maxed for all 3 toons, and Nukara maxed for all but the one with the corvette, and also have fleets with a T4 Starbase, T3 Embassy, and T2 Mine Fed side and T2 Starbase, T1 Embassy, and soon to be T1 Mine KDF side (provisions are a bit short on KDF, so I'd prefer not to use up too terribly many of those). I also have 5 unopened Plasmonic Leech packs, and can list other ships I already own if desired.

I have been thinking about one possible build from what I have: use the Recon Vesta with a tac in the LtC for 2xTT1, 2xCSV1, APB2, get HE, TSS, GW, and TBR for the Comm, and the rest would be eng, EPtS1, EPtW1, and ET2 (which I understand is important for Viral Matrix hits) with DCEs to keep the EPtX chaining, and possibly switching to Rom Plasma weapons as well. Just a thought, I really don?t know if that would cut it or not.

I used a Breen Chel Grett to do it, but this build can also be adapted to other escorts with Lt Cmdr Sci station. This can take out 1 side on its own very fast.
    fore- 4 DHC
aft- 3 turrets, 1 cutting beam

engines, deflector- doesn't matter too much, I like Omega 2 pc, most like borg 2 pc

shields- MACO, Honor guard, adapted, or elite fleet shields

devices- aux battery, subspace field modulator

    consoles-
eng- neutronium, plasmonic leech, subspace integration circuit

sci- assimilated module, zero point conduit, and tachyokinetic converter or aceton assimilator if KDF, or field generator if you don't have those

tac- 4 of your energy type

    boff skills-

cmdr tac- tt1, csv1,csv2, apo3 (switch to beta 3 if you dont have attack pattern doffs)
    lt tac- tt1, apb1

    lt eng- eptw1, epts2

    lt cmdr sci, he1, tbr1, gw1
    ensign sci- tss1

doffs, 2 damage control engineer, debuff clearing warp core engineer, 2 attack pattern doffs
Tala -KDF Tac- House of Beautiful Orions

You really do need an escort with a lt commander sci. Gw1 and tbr1 are really important. the rest is about communication with in the match and knowing your position. Next you will need to practice with a few people you can work with.

Do wish they'd make a version of this for single-player play, so you aren't stuck depending upon others to complete it. The original Kobayashi Maru was designed for single captains, after all.

    Thanks for the replies.

I figured I'd need a new ship, nice to think I can get by with the Breen ships I already have for two of my toons (not the Rom, of course, he'll have to go Dhelan if I try it with him). I'll look into the Aceton Assimilators for the two KDF ones, although I'd sooner avoid the Tachyokinetic if possible, lobi are awfully expensive (I suppose in principle I could buy keys from the exchange and sell the stuff from the boxes and hope it comes out neutral, but I feel like I could drop a lot of ec down a hole that way). Just picked up a Subspace Integration Circuit, I'll definitely get one for each toon I plan to try this on. Attack Pattern doffs are awfully expensive, and look like they'd max out at only a 30% reduction with 2 purples (rather than the 50% needed for minimum CD), so I'm a little worried about whether they're really worth the cost. But of course, some mechanics operate unexpectedly, and sometimes an imperfect solution is still the best, so if you think I need them I'll try to get them, I never thought this would be easy, after all. The Warp Core Engineer is definitely doable for one toon, and the DCEs shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably start with that Fed sci since that's the one that already has Plasmonic Leech, and I guess to use that effectively I should replace his MACO shield with an Elite Fleet one.

So I guess beyond that it's just find a group of decent players, read the tips on the wiki, and practice a ton.
