Since this is often ignored by most players, what do you like to do?
When your team start to suffer ill effects from all those torpedoes and phasers, what do you do?
Do you float around tossing out engineering teams or hazard emitters? Inefficient, but it kinda works, personally I favour auxiliary to structural...
Do you activate Fermion field and get everyone healthy at once? Really does work, if everyone happens to be close together. That combined with necessitating a Vesta is quite inconvenient for some
Do you activate a Resonance Cascade Modulator and science team to stop anybody from taking damage? Damn effective, again, somewhat restricted...
So, yeah... How do you stop your team from copping it?
Or do you just let them?

When in cruisers, I like throwing Extend+Aux2SIF and/or HE+TSS.
It's nice to have the two combos. Needless to say, Aux2Batt cruisers (and tac, sci ships) are most limited in that.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
I let em die. they come back fully healed. all my heals are usualy in cooldown and I dont use any that is specificly for team heals because 90% of the time im playing solo.

Depending upon what ship I'm flying and how many times they have already died (with or without assistance) it could be anything from chained TTs + Chained aux2SIF + Chained Extends along with standard HE and TSS with the odd AP: D to TT + HE + TSS to nothing due to their death count.
If they die with the first listed amount of support then they deserve to die, I'm sorry but if a healboat gives you enough heals and resists to withstand focus fire in pvp and you can STILL die in pve then... yeah...
Hrmmm, outside of PvP - every ship can carry more than enough heals to cover any damage they're taking...so outside of likely having more threat (whether I'm in a cruiser or a BoP), it's very rare that I'm going to toss heals outside of PvP.
All the magic wand healing that takes place in STO generally ticks me off, and I don't know if the person that I would potentially be healing would feel that way too...it's not my place to add to their possible dislike of the mechanic.

If I'm not on cooldown and not "In the ****" I'll happily apply them to anyone in team who needs them.
