Please come back SEASON 6, is it just me or drops from stfs are pure TRIBBLE!
I wont get a single purple thing in like 50 queues, this is really shame, this game is really pissing me off:mad:

They've always been TRIBBLE. Even some of the purple drops are TRIBBLE. The reason the drops aren't worth anything beyond the vendor value is because so many people run STFs, the supply might as well be unlimited.

I consider borg neural processors, omega marks, and the dil something of worth...

The loot from STFs has always been TRIBBLE tbh, though loot is not the main reason to run them. Omega marks and borg neural processors are far more valuable as they are used to acquire the best gear and items.

It is a shame that STF's do not have higher than average quality of drops as a matter of course. As special task force such a better quality of drop shoild be a given.

You don't want the old way...extremely low chance for a piece if gear to drop that getas rolled for.../shudder

Current way allows people to get maco/khg gear

I had no difficulty in getting MACO/Omega/KHG gear under the old system. Under the current system I can't even get the set I want until I reach Tier V Omega rep. Which takes a month assuming I log in every day to set the two rep projects (which assumes I also have enough O-marks for said projects, and also assumes that by the end I will have stockpiled thousands in order to buy whatever set I want).

This is not a better system. It's not a move up, it's a move sideways.

What's ironic about that is the Rep system was forced upon us because of the complaints from players that wanted the gear without playing the STF missions.
So, now these lazy petaQ *suffer* through one or 2 STF's every few days to get the Omega Marks they need for the Rep...and eventually the endgame MK XII sets.

We went from actually playing the missions for the gear to minimal participation for full access.
Hang your head in shame, Cryptic.

Actually, I disagree. With a competent team, you can run an Elite Space STF in about 10-20 minutes. For that, you get nearly 1k dilithium, a bunch of Omega Marks, the vendorable drops/rewards (which will usually net you anywhere from 50-200k EC) AND the Borg Neural Processors, which can also be used to net you another 1k dilithium for every 5 BNPs.

Compared to a number of areas in the game, the eSTFs are already chock-full of rewards.

EDIT: Plus, you can get certain valuable gear using the Omega marks and the BNPs.

Very Rare gear from loot drops from destroyed enemies are very rare that makes sense. When their is very rare drops a lot of them suck anyways usually good drops of very rare gear comes from the ground with a very rare MK X kit. Outside of that only good very rare gear comes from the reward you get from completing missions.

To be honest, that way worked fine for me. Guaranteed mk xi sets in about 10-20 STF's, and a decent shot at the mk xii set in that time too, though that might take a little longer.

As it is now, that same mk xi set takes weeks to unlock, before I able to buy that set for a pretty hefty cost.

As it is now, many of my characters will never see a mk xi STF set, or even a mk x set, because of the silly timegated slidershifting piece of spreadsheeting put in place to prevent access to these sets. In the previous system, 15 STF's guaranteed at least 1 full mk xi set.

Not sure what I said that indicates a split personality.

Let me explain further: I disagree that the quality of drops should be improved because STFs already give more than enough of a reward for the time you spend on 'em. That's the argument I was making in a somewhat roundabout way.

I prefer the old way. Reputation system sucks and you know why?, I could only run ISEs (easiest one) and get exactly the same rewards as someone that digs ALL the queues, so it's clearly NOT FAIR, NOT FAIR at all. Some guy that never played a single ground can get the same clothes and loots than any other player that digs elite grounds all day.

Now i have over 40.000 omega marks and i just can't use them in anything else, so for me stf's are quite useless, i only dig em to get dil. Drops should be purples more often, I mean I only GET PURE TRIBBLE! Stf's are turning more and more useless, holy **** this whole new season has been a BIG MISTAKE. Not to mention the current hundreds of bugs.

Often rolled for by people who already had the item and just wanted the tokens to stockpile in the bank. I remember the threads that appeared when they introduced the rep system and people were complaining that they were losing stacks of prototype salvage and techs they had stored...
so it's clearly NOT FAIR, NOT FAIR at all.

So it used to be fair when someone dragged himself through KAGE for months, over and over again, for that last prototype tech, carrying PuGs and in the end gets his token rolled away by someone in greens who entered the queue for the first time?

As far as time is concerned, if you didn't get lucky on tech or salvage, it was an endless EDC grind to get a complete mk Xi space set. 120 ECs for the set at a rate of 1 for a normal, 2 for an elite STF outside the event?

You had people that had to run 60 elites to get their set, while others got it in 3. Now THAT is what I'd call unfair.

six of one, half dozen of the other-either way, you're grinding something. which is the very nature of PvE.

Difference being that, once you're done with your daily grind in the new system, you gotta wait for 20 hours a pop, before you can play the slider game again. Old system didn't have that. Nor paying dil to claim your reward.

woooaah...you mean you are supposed to get purple items?

    I think I got one once....on an STF....once...

Mostly I find I get either items leveled lower then I am...like even MK VIII items....or I get ten trillion MK X items.

And sadly elite means you just get more of them.

Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.

How about we get no drops at all. Its better than nothing. I know your unhappy but we cannot have everything our way. Be thankful we get drops at all.

Except the old system had people who never got anything for reasons stated above, because everyone rolled Need on everything long before the new system. I have fleetmates that spent the 2+ years from Beta to S7 and never seen the drops they needed to get Mk XII STF gear, because of d-bags that wanted an extra token to stockpile or whatever. And keeping in mind that this was before all the STFs got moved into the queue system, they were spending 3 hours or more to get zilch every day.

I myself never touched an STF before S7 despite being an LTS because I have neither the time nor inclination to raid. Now everyone has access to raid-grade content and is guaranteed a return on their investment. The only real gambling left in this MMO is lockboxes, and I'm happy to let that stay where it is.

If you so desperately want the "thrill" of whiffing a loot roll you really needed or not seeing the pair of pants you just spent a dozen runs trying to get to drop, play The Old Republic.

That still happens today. Players STILL click NEED on everything. THAT hasn't changed one bit. WHat has changed is we went from possible instant gradification to guarenteed results with an investment of time. Both are bad. Really, BOTH should have been implemented. That way the lucky ones could get their items now, and if the roll didn't go your way, you could still wait for the reputation projects to come through.

@unangbangkay: if you scroll back a little further, you'll find the rest of my contribution, explaining what irked me about the change.

@davidwford: " Really, BOTH should have been implemented." - 100% agree.

@every one else: leave this thread alone, it was diseased and buried. Start a new thread about it if you must, but frankly, I think we can do without. What's done is done and reps might be improved soon(tm) anyway.

    /close necroed thread.

I do get mk xii purple very often, but it is always junk.
    Purple mines, shields, engines ....
Basically stuff that i cant sell.

As i am aware of, 1st place in STF-s should give you purple stuff.
