My fleet is about to unlock the Mk XII Enhanced Neutronium Alloy and Enhanced Monotanium Alloy and I was wondering what the best build would be for a Heavy Escort Carrier.
On my escort carrier at the moment I have one rare Mk xii Monotanium Alloy (+37.5 kinetic resist) and one very rare mk xii electroceraminc hull plating (+40 plasma and tetryon resist). I have the different hull platings I can swap out dependant on enemy weapon type.
Would I be better losing those two consoles for 2x enhanced neutronium alloys which offer +21.2 kenetic and all damage resistance or should I simply swap out the monotanium for an enhanced monotanium version. Or would I be better off losing the energy damage resistance and just go with 2x kenetic?
This is an all purpose escort which will often be used in ESTFs. I don't do PvP only PvE.
A pair of Neutronium consoles will give you better damage resistance against everything than a Monotanium and a matched-type console will. Enhanced Monotanium +AllRes can beat it for the matched types, but then you're missing out on the two modifiers from the enhanced Neutronium (such as +Turn, HullHP, or HullRep).
The all-type edge is useful when you leave STFs and do other PvE content such as Crystalline Entity, where you'll face Antiproton and Tetryon damage instead of Plasma.
Mando is half right. Double Neutronium is good. Add in the +turn mods, and you're almost there. However, I would add on a Monotanium as well (last I checked the HEC had 3 engi console slots). The double neut single mono is a great combination, esp because the majority of NPC damage comes from torps.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.
Yes I will have a third console slot freed up in a few hours when I get my fleet version of the ship so I can put a universal console on a science slot instead of wasting an engineering slot.
Thank you mando for bringing up CE. Although I would usually swap consoles it is a pain so being well rounded is prefered.
