Cryptic, please do not change the BOFF layout on the Atrox. I like it just fine the way that it is, and if you change it, then I should be entitled to a refund.

I find having lt commander engineering and science stations to be very useful to me.

I was sharing in the regret, until they came out with the Elite Scorpions. Then, I found it quite capable. Since as you've noticed, the pets are the Atrox's DPS dealers. Don't know much about PvP, but for PvE at least, nothing says "get 'er done" quite like 12 high-yield plasma torpedoes. If Cryptic ever decides to stop hating science, the Atrox would truly be a force. For now, if you can get used to the idea that you are essential a support craft for your fighters, it's not a bad experience.

Well, it wasn't until Cryptic took that nice big dump all over the fighter launch system. Now I'm back to regret.

Out of curiosity, how often does Cryptic re-balance ships after they release them? What I mean is will they ever give the Atrox a Universal Ensign slot or Universal Lieutenant slot?

I'd like to expand upon this question and ask, has something like this ever happened?

There's something very ironic about this statement. :) It's a carrier. It's carrying, you know, pets. That's the function of a carrier. It's not supposed to be agile itself.

I can understand you're frustration flying a brick, though (although a real brick, come to think of it, could probably turn faster). I fly a Recluse myself; and even with a Tachyo on it, and 2x [+Turn] enhanced Neutroniums, Attack Pattern Omega, it still turns for sh*t. But it's all good. :) Sometimes my pets (Elite Tholian Mesh Weavers) do more dmg than me, LOL. And then I keep reminding myself I do nice science-y stuff with it, and that, in the end, I'm just the carrier for my pets.

If you want an offensive carrier, look into the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought.

Oh, don't get me started on the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought. :P I bought it, because the description on the Fleet Store for the Jem'Hadar Attack ship pets said 'Jem'Hadar Dreadnought' -- it didn't say you need to own a bug ship first too.

At long last I put some Elite Scorpion pets on it, and they're not half-bad; but had I known this upfront, I would *not* have bought the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought.

Anyway, mild rant over. :) As you were.

You can mostly never make a mistake when buying larger Federation Ships, in other cases choosing the right vessel is pretty challenging

The fact that the Atrox is a 9-console ship without a fleet version or a special console could have been another giveaway that it isn't too competative, when compared to other carriers.

It used to be worse, though. The widened arc of most science abilities as well as the availability of Elite Stalkers (AP sweep isn't too bad in PvP) have improved the Atroxs' capabilities a bit.

It'd still be nice to see a fleet version. Same goes for other ships like the D'Kyr, Kar'fi, Guramba etc...

I gave it 25 days to impress me. But I'm just sick to my stomach with my Atrox. What was I thinking? It does nothing well except take a pounding? I don't like flying a "beam boat" (compared to my psuedo-tactical vesta with Dual heavy cannons). If I didn't have those scorpion pets I don't know what I would have done?

Out of curiosity, how often does Cryptic re-balance ships after they release them? What I mean is will they ever give the Atrox a Universal Ensign slot or Universal Lieutenant slot?

Maybe if the Atrox had the same bridge officer layout as my Vesta I'd be ok with it. As of now I can't even look at the ship while I play the game.

Ok that'll be all, you may return to your exciting lives.

Well. you should be more careful when you decide to buy something on this game, especially if you are going to spend real moneys.

The Caitan Atrox Carrier is an old ship, it was pretty good when it was released, but now it is not very powerful compared to other T5 C-STORE Ships.

Nowadays it isn't worth its price.

However it is a pretty good science ship, if you know how to build it.
The Vesta is better, but the Atrox is not a total waste ;)
