I'm having trouble even finding some of the missions in the Foundry...
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
Is it just me or is the number of plays for missions in this challenge overall really low?
I mean REALLY low. At this point the person with the most plays could win, and have more votes potentially than ANY combinations of 3 of the others even have plays, and thats Sutherland's mission. First in the list of missions, and only at 70 plays.
Others have't even gotten out of the review stage yet. Maybe I'm wrong, all this will "shake out" over the next couple weeks, but right now it's not feeling like very much of a challenge, when one mission has more plays (literally) than any combination of any three of the other entrants.
I like Sutherland's mission. I like Sutherland. Please don't mistake that.
Just with the problems the last challenge had, and what i am seeing in the numbers for this one, I think the way challenges are done might have to be looked at.

I was thinking the same thing until I came to the realization that "Pursuit" has two major factors in its favor - - at this time.
1. It is the first listed mission in the Challenge - so naturally it will see plays first (we still have a few weeks before the voting will close). Other missions will see more plays as people work their way down the list. (crosses fingers - lol )
2. It is part of a popular mission series - it already has a built in fanbase of people waiting to play it. Just because it has a lot of plays, that doesn't equate to votes specifically for the Challenge. It just means a lot of folks were waiting to continue the story from the previous parts. (well, here's hoping anyway :P)
In fact, I really liked it when I played it (being as excited as I was, I have already played all of the Challenge missions ). In my opinion, "Pursuit" is one of the top contenders for the prize, despite the 'time travel' storyline taking a backseat to the continuing non-canon 'Ask'kaar' storyline. The mission is very well put together and the attention to detail in the maps is very good. And while I may not agree with, or like how the Author is changing the Star Trek universe to his/her own vision, I certainly applaud him/her for doing it so well.
Again, the Challenge has barely started. Just give folks time to work their way down the list. There are a bunch of really good missions in this contest and I really think it will be quite a fight for first place.

Oh lord, I'm not paranoid then. I was looking at it thinking I've had more plays out of competition by this point. Though I think I've got the double problem of it being a Klingon mission. It also seems that there are a lot of non-challenge missions being launched about now so there is an insane amount to play. I barely have time to go through them all normally.

This was my back up time travel plot.... the first was a continue to "Mirror Wars"
You would of been your Mirror self taking part in the "Temporal Cold War" .. bla bla bla... You would of been countering the 29th Federations move.. sending Prime kirk to the mirror to influence spock... bla bla lba.. empire collapses. You would of them stopped that... returned to 2409... then boom... you create parallel universe.. and.. Second Terran Empire (purple hull) join the conflict.
However as the Mirror Tos outfits went "bye bye" I just thought... "meh... fine... i'll do X instead"
That said... I won the #6 challenge.. in the event I do end up winning this... I will yield the spotlight, prize and whatever else comes with it to the runner up.... in exchange (aimed at cryptic) for this outfit... http://i.imgur.com/5IEPliw.png
First of all: where did you find this screenshot? The uniform looks great. I would love to have this as well! :-)
Anyway. I've participated in the foundry challenge since #2 (as a player). With one or two exceptions I've played every mission from every challenge which was listed.
From my experience there were always missions that got lower plays.
I cannot tell you were these come from. I can only guess.
Personally I don't play them in the order from the list, which the Dev Blog gives. Sometimes I choose the ones that have the most promising plot (to mee), sometimes I'll wait until they are qualified for the Reward. Altough I've played some which didn't give a reward at any time.
Right now I've played only two missions of the actual challenge. Best of all Worlds and Maiden Voyage.
I don't might be the "average" player but I just want to give you authors my personal opinion: One or two weeks ago German TV showed the Kirk-Movies. I've watched them and was in the mood of dressing my char and some BOs in the WOK-Uniform.
So the first mission I picked was the one which sent "me" back in time closely to this era (I am a roleplayer).
So, you see that some players of your missions have very different criteria for the way they choose the order of missions! :-)
P.S.
Thanks for every author of this (and the other) challenges for telling me great and exciting storys in the Star Trek Universe!

I highlighted the #ofPlays above, because that's what's important. I have said it previously in a few places. I don't think I deserve to win this challenge. I can think of 3 missions on that list which have a richer, better story done with more expertise than mine just of the few I've played.
It's about the numbers. And because of the numbers this challenge is unfair.
The mission with the most plays has double the number of plays of the next mission in the list of entries. That means that any combination of the next 3 most played doesn't equal the number of plays it has.
I am withdrawing from the challenge as of this afternoon.
For two reasons.
First, as the numbers above indicate (at least to me) this challenge is particularly unfair, and has an incredibly low # of plays overall. Challege #5, by 3 days before challenges end I had over 300 plays.(This was a year ago, my memory could be off).
Second, is my own mistake. I quote from the Rules of the challenge as presented by Brandon in his post announcing the challenge, and in fact every challenge.
"In the spirit of the competition, only maps, missions, stories, dialogue etc. created/ built/ designed during the 6-week creation period should be used."
Mine's an Episode 2 for frak's sake. While the particulars, maps, the mission itself, this particular story, all of that was "built" during the challenge timeline, the characters and some continuing situations within the story, come from something I have been working on for months outside of this challenge. They were not "created" during this challenge.
Again, based purely on number of plays, this challenge is totally unfair if the winner receives more than 5 votes , or whatever is the lowest #of plays of all the missions. I myself have 5 more to play tonight and this weekend.
I have not played the most popular entries in the competition yet. I have not leveled up my Klingon toon enough to play thisisscience's mission so I am out as far as judging the contest. Loved Continuity errors and Hippie's mission too. Maybe people really mean it when they say they hate time travel stories on the forums? I like them myself.
I think what the community really needs is more Romulan content! I just levelled my romulan this week and joined the Federation and there are only 2 Romulan missions at level 10! My next release is a Lvl 10 Romulan mission it is nearly halfway done.

Patrol routes were acting wonky in my mission too. I had to remove a few groups because of it.
I must play this one!

I've been away from the Foundry and the game for a long while, but something about this challenge caught my eye.
I managed to get an entry in--it's really rough around the edges, but hope you all enjoy.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else put together.
Best.
Just played this mission tonight. Love it! Made me laugh.
Looking forward to the 3rd in the series
