It would be really nice, if in addition to the Lobi Reward, we also got a Box that allowed us to choose an amount of Marks...
The box type would be random and just the way it is now from the Queued up missions we have. So you wouldn't know if you were getting one that lets you choose Omega, Nukara, or Romulan marks in addition to Fleet marks.
I could see players buying more boxes just to get the Marks.
Again just a suggestion.
You think that your beta test was bad?

Also an Idea would be to have 3 different versions of the boxes, Small commons, Medium sized uncommons, or Large sized Rares. Where the Side of the box deteremined how many marks would be choosen something like..
Common = Other marks 25 + Fleet Marks 5
Uncommon = Other Marks 100 + Fleet marks 10
Rare = Other Marks 500 + Fleet Marks 50

I wouldn't mind it. It'd help out pretty much everyone.
But have the rewards be a flat bonus, because otherwise you would have people complaining about getting a single '50 mark box' or something out of lockbox a lot of the time.
At least a couple hundred should be a nice, flat number to work with. Tons of people I'm sure would be on board with that, to help fill out projects and lessen the grind.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
It would help the people that buy keys. How would it help people that don't open boxes ?
I think this idea would bring the game closer to a pay to win. You would either grind for months, or spend $ and avoid the grind.
No thank you.
Compairing to SWTOR f2p is bad. Full of pay2win.
True, and while that wouldn't help, there would be plenty of people willing to spend ECs on these boxes on the exchange (hopefully they wouldn't be bound), in order to help avoid grind. They wouldn't be opening lockboxes, but they would be buying the boxes for the marks. So it would help people outside of only that group.
And besides, it wouldn't build starbases in a day. It would just help ease the FM burden some fleets have. You'd still have to be in a smaller fleet which needs it, a medium fleet which might need it, or a large fleet which has too many resources as it is and have trouble donating them.
Heck, I'd probably mostly use it to avoid painful rep grinding *cough* Nukara *cough*.
It also wouldn't remove the time gates on rep either. So even if you paid your way for all the marks you could ever need, you'd still have to wait the 35 days to max it out.

Being bound, or not bound is a question that would be left up to how the Development team of the game felt made more sense to keep things from happening too fast, I suppose.
One thing that, if you choose fleet marks, it could help is the solo, or small fleets that are struggling to get their tasks done. Especially if the Bonus Mark boxes are not bound on pickup.

50 marks for white (fleet marks can be one of the choices so they should be equal to the rep marks)
100 marks for green
200 marks for blue
and add a very rare box as a prize with 500 marks
Also, be nice if we could turn in unopened lockboxes for somekind of reward, like Marks. Maybe like 5 marks per box.
That would be too easy for Cryptic. You can buy boxes so cheaply now it's crazy. Then again if something like this happened, the prices would jump up.
For a little bit, but lockboxes would have value other than opening them.

I'm surprised they haven't yet.
Gotta love getting the Idea after playing Starwars: Tor and opening up their versions of Lock Boxes.
Really need to get my Cartel Rep up in that game.. and the only way to get it up is by buying lock boxes..
But.. yeah.. anyway.. Thought this Idea could be implemented here now that STO has the choosable Mark Boxes from those Queue based missions.
