Too bad they don't have keys drop every once in awhile as a loot item. I don't want to spend all that real world cash buying a key to open the 100 or so damn boxes I have gotten since I started playing couple months ago.

    Earned Dilithium traded for Zen buys Keys; so in essence you can get Keys for free like a drop. :)
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    It's the downside of being retired: too much time to read too many gaming forums. :)

    To be fair, he's right, and it's on-topic. The guy is complaining that he doesn't want to pay real world money for keys. TheCosmic1 offers an alternative. ^_^

    you can buy keys on exchange for EC..

    EC is super easy to get.. you can pretty much buy 2 keys in one day with just a couple hours and 3 chars.

    one with dil and one with EC.

    yesterday keys were around 1.5m and 22k dil.
    [12:35] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 225232 (271723) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.
    [12:44] Vessel One of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 1019527 (1157678) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Energy Bolt Explosion.

    You shouldn't feel obligated to open every single box you find. They are designed to drop faster than you can open them.

    You don't open ever spam e-mail, either, do you??;)
