Poor loot for intense fight

Im in this intense fight with a breen battleship and two escorts during one of the episodes. This battle was intense for my standard sov ship nearly kicked my rear end several times. The battle was long and hard, so after barely surviving this long battle what was the loot drop, a weapons battery. Come on, huge ship, long hard battle and a lousy battery?

Sad to hear, just very poor luck. I've been through similar as well. Can be the opposite too sometimes, short battle and very high reward.

More than once I've got high end purple gadgetry for blowing up a T'Varo or something... Sadly, I'm at the point where challenge doesn't come in to it on most of my characters ;)

sorry loot and combat difficulty aren't tied in outside of places like starbase 24(do well get purple) and a few other PVE scenarios. was the battle intended to be long and hard or is it possible your tactics need an update?

Battleships usually drop green loot. Looks like you just had bad luck. Sorry.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Unfortunately loot drops are strictly random for most of PvE.

If you would like advice on your skills, abilities and ship build, you can start by posting your ship build here: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/.

What career is you character? Science, Engineering or Tactical? What Level/Rank is the character? I expect you are at least Level 40, Rear Admiral/Lower Half?

You can also research www.hilbertguide.com, lots of good info to get started with STO. Also www.stowiki.org is the wikipedia of STO.

    What are you smoking?

A properly made Assault Cruiser should be able to tank that battle and quickly destroy the NPCs.

As for drops, sry you had a tough time and only came out of it with a battery but I hope you take the time to improve your build. Learn from the encounter and get stronger.

If you want help I do fly cruisers on a few characters hit me up @edalgo.

Ignorant fools spouting total BS. They can't master the game mechanics involved in a proper cruiser build so they default to the easy option ("pew-pew" in a tiny little ship) and mock everyone else. I just hope I run into some of these morons in HO when the queen does her JTS thing and I start melting all of my teammates.*

    *Accidentally, of course... :)

True however the loot critter glows purple. They need to change that as it is causing some to think it is bugged.

He was saying use a proper cruiser build... he wasn't saying switch to an escort. Either you're being an idiot on purpose or you quoted the wrong post.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

Ummm...I was AGREEING with the post I quoted. He was defending the cruiser as a viable DPS platform and I was seconding his opinion while adding that I thought escort jockeys who bash cruisers are ignorant fools who can't grasp the finer points of game mechanics.

    It's called CONTEXT...look it up.

I read your post in context 4 times, and it still looked like you were attacking edalgo's post. I think you just need to use less aggressive wording.
