Inappropriate Doff Names

I'm simple so I love 'em. Give me foul language and a TRIBBLE joke and I'm set! But since cryptic is taking disciplinary action because of them, are there plans to fix the inappropriately named doffs?

It's terrible but easy, and these Borg are way cooler than the mess STO and Voyager left us.
May not actually be "way" cooler or even "slightly" cooler.

I know there are funny named boffs and doffs, but not anyone foul or anything bad that I know.

Actually there are quite a few.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I'm no Dev, but I recall instances where "bad" DOFF names came up on the forums and the Devs said they would get them fixed. If anyone ever put in a bug report on them, my guess is they'll get fixed Soon(TM). If they've never been reported, then probably not.

Just a reminder, please do not post any inappropriate names here. This is supposed to be a "family-friendly" forum more or less and stuff that would fail the "PG" test shouldn't be posted here. Basically anything that would violate the rule against vulgar, obscene, inappropriate and objectionable content.

Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.

I've still got a rather scatalogically named Gorn Photonic Studies Scientist. He's my favorite.

The question I have to ask is, if that is really you in your avatar picture - because if it is you are pretty hot.

Nothing PG-rated but... As a member of Firefly Fleet I like having a DOff named Serenity Lai. Especially one rated "Unscrupulous". I also had Ensign Banana at one point - mind you, I think that is a real name!

In the vein of cool names.... I have doff named Bellflower. Which reminds me of Nellie Bellflower, the voice actress who did Ariel in Thundarr the Barbarian.

Oh and I have an Orion named Li. Yeah, just Li. hehe.

I've some Uncommon Ferengi Botanist/Biologist/Biochemist one of those B's I think anyway, who is named TRIBBLE.

Dev view of the Ferengi maybe, they were never the equivalent of the TOS Klingons, lucky the Romulans came back in a big way in TNG.

On a Klingon character, I have a Blue quality Projectile Weapons Officer who is a Gorn named 'Hit'.

Its not cryptic who bans people ...its pwe no real job GMs who ban for the sake of it (same who banned people for posting that ec selling thing) and call it profanity when you post TRIBBLE doff.English is not my native language but since when is TRIBBLE a bad word .Im really tired of their BS "I don't like thus it has to be banned" mentality.

It may be a robomoderator. Probably is, sounds like something they would do if you gave them the power to ban people on their own initiative. That's what happens when you let a robot do its own thing unsupervised - have PWE's team never watched Star Trek themselves? :)

Yes, "TRIBBLE" is a somewhat rude word in English (though also, awkwardly, a type of small bird), but honestly, not as rude as all that.

There's a lesson to be learnt from all this... and the lesson is that aliens whose names spell something silly in English would be great for a bit of comedy value in a Foundry mission.
From an RP thread over at Firefly Fleet's forum:
First of all, she was a purple-skinned Saurian. Which is a reptilian race. So, if that's the case, why does she have TRIBBLE? Then there was the confusion.

"A pleasure to meet you, sir," she said when her turn for introductions came around.

"Thank you, ensign...?" I left it hanging, waiting for the introductions.

    "Name, sir!"

I blinked in confusion then said, "I'm Lieutenant Valkyr, and you are?"

"Name, sir!" she said again. She seemed to getting flustered, or so I thought if her body language was remotely similar to what I was familiar with. For myself, I had no idea where to go from there. Fortunately my new tactical officer came to the rescue.

"Sir, the ensigns name is Name, sir," Tala told me.

"Oh," I said, hoping my embarrassment didn't show. "Very well."

There could be nothing gained from continuing that conversation, so I moved quickly on to the business at hand.

    Seems this name really happened.
