You never addressed my real question why do You reward the free players the same as the paid ones that have driven this game to the point that it can be free. I do,
"not" really appreciate the miserly 500 omega points as month it should five hundred of each factions points, the fact that veterans have to earn 1000 omega points to get anything is ridicules after putting in three years it should be more like 250 for us and 10000 for the free players they did not pay to make it free, we did after putting close to four thousand or more of my hard earned dollars, into this game how do you think it makes all of us feel to see they can get what we played years to get practically for free just by collecting omega points, but wait not only that but after we collect them we still have to spend points and money for Zen to get boxes or dilithium in order to ever create them how in gods name is that fair the free and the fee players have to put out the same? Sorry guys but that's totally bogus! rethink everything and make it right!!!!!!!!!!!
4 grand... maybe you should stop and think what you have done. Sure it's entertainment money but damn that's a lot of cash to spend on a single game.
A game that gives lifetime subs for 300 with a 500 zen stipend worth 5 dollars, all items available through in game means
If you really did spend 4k...I wish I could throw money like that around. And if I could it sure wouldn't be on a game...probably booze, maybe a vacation, flying lessons...damn, a lot of stuff
.......:D
As for being one of the former"unwashed masses"that the OP is referring to, I want to thank the F2pers for playing the game.I know the majority do spend money as I have.I know some are seeking work in a strained economy, or are retired, and on a fixed income. That dosen't lessen their value as players.I have a LTS, and read the agreement, before purchase. My agreement has been honored by Cryptic.I want to again thank my family for my LTS.
The problem with your logic is that the Rep system came out after the game went F2P. Meaning everyone, Subers and Freepers have always had an equal chance of earning just as much Reputation rewards.
What your suggesting would turn this game into a Pay 2 Win game, which is not what Cryptic wants, they want everyone to have an equal opportunity to gain rewards no matter how much they spend.

so lock box ships are not pay to win? zen store ships are not pay to win? using zen to bypass the dill cap is not pay to win? oh and because its the god ship in game JHAS is not pay to win?
Tosses the OP some punctuation, a working space bar, the worlds tiniest violin and a small bag of clue.
Us LTS's don't get 500 omega points a month, we get 500 zen. Far more useful. Can turn it into dilithium for a start.
We also get a free 2000 zen ship per toon as well as the LTS destroyer, hundreds of zens worth of enhancements on each toon, access to unique playable race, as well as a handful of minor tweaks that make play easier.
once I noticed that tal shiar boxes don't give rich claim I hardly ever buy keys anymore because it is better for me to spend my zen on dil because that gives me more dil to donate to fleet projects so unless the new box starts handing out rich claims like the dominion box used to, I won't be spending my zen to buy keys ...simple as that.
so lock box ships are not pay to win? zen store ships are not pay to win? using zen to bypass the dill cap is not pay to win? oh and because its the god ship in game JHAS is not pay to win?
No, strictly speaking, because its possible to win without them.
They're all nice but superfluous.
But clearly STO, by having a pay component at all, is pay to something.
Pay to find things somewhat more convenient, perhaps?
Pay to get to play with premium toys slightly quicker than FTP players?
Pay to break canon and/or clog up hub ports with stupidly big ships?
No they aren't. I have over a dozen characters and less than 6 of them use any of those things you mentioned.
I have no trouble "winning" my missions without any of that stuff. I only use the stuff you mentioned on themed characters. My Ferengi has a D'Kora, my Cardassian has a Galor, etc.
Oh and I got the lockbox ships I have by spending EC I earned by playing the game, but I did buy the LoR stuff so it balances out.
funny i use money to not grind out EC to buy lock box ships funny i use money to have something better then what the game gives freely or takes me days to weeks or years of grinding funny i use money to not grind period only time i grind is about 1 hour or so ones a week to get marks for rep grind money buys me EC by selling master keys so this game is pay to win imo
Very good, you managed to list several examples of why the game isn't "pay to win". Everything you listed is optional. None of them are required in order to enjoy playing the game.
"Pay to Win" means you can't win if you don't pay.
i spend 70 on a lock box ship that take you what close to a year to grind for i just paid to win but i do love how you think JHAS is not a pay to win ship love to see how long of a grind with out using money that would be when i could just at the first of the month pay 400$ to get say ship and again just paid to win for if you have not seen considered the best escort in the game
Lifers have advantages already. There is no reason to give them more especialy considering after that one month the payment is already used and you are the same as a free player as far as the monthly revenue is concerned. There is no good financial reason to give the benifits the OP is crying about considering the faster you get the gear the less likely you will pay more real money over time.
Someone who does a subcription for 21 monthes paid more money than a LTS fee, those people deserve something for maintaining a subscription for longer than LTS is worth in subscription fees.
Silver players who actualy bought zen deserve something as a thank you.
LTS doesnt deserve anything more than they get already especialy after 20 monthes. After that you are just a silver player with a gold account and that itself is a huge benifit.
What this game should ahve 1 3 account types.
1. Gold, LTS and Subscribers.
2. Silver, Any player that has not subscribed but has bought Zen.
3. Bronze, True free players who has never purchased Zen.
Gold, No changes to account. Silver add half the extra storage gold gets. Bronze would be what is silver right now. That would be a thank you to those Silver players who have paid money but are treated like a mooch in the most insulting ways.

1. Unlike you I don't have "Shiny Ball Syndrome" and thus feel no uncontrollable compulsion for instant gratification every time something new is released.
2. Who has to grind for anything? I've been an LTS since before the game launched which paid for itself long before the game went F2P. I can get anything I want listed on the C-store or the Exchange without ever spending a dime.
And as much as you find my willingness to be patient and get my stuff for free funny, I find your inability to control your "Shiny Ball Syndrome" and spending habits just as amusing. Even funnier is that you try to use your character flaws to claim the game is "Pay to Win" when it isn't. :P
you say not pay to win i say pay to win that is my whats that word ? and Shiny Ball Syndrome i can control my self have to only get paid ones a month
If you could control your spending you wouldn't be dropping $70 bucks on a lockbox ship and then complaining about the cost. :P
And the only way this game will ever become "Pay to Win" is if they remove all of the options that allow players to earn credit to buy whatever they want without spending a dime.
cant help it i have my bills paid and have money to spend now if i was like you say my bill never get paid
Considering nothing you pay for is needed to successfully beat PVE's, what in your definition is P2W actually used for in this game? PVP? If that is the case than watching a bunch of P2W ships destroy one another isn't what I would define as P2W since your P2W ship is being destroyed.

did you look at the link "The problem is that there is no agreed-upon definition of pay-to-win." what dose this mean ummm every one gets to have their own opinion on what pay to wins means and JHAS nuff said and also bad ship builds can make even the best ship look bad players with no skill can make the best ship look bad i mean think about every one cant even go to one side in stf infected

You still haven't answered the question!!! What does any of this have to do with playing the game, because none of it is ever needed to play a PVE. So what does a ship like the JHAS have anything to do with P2W in PVW when 99% of every ship on this game can handle those? And again if 2 JHAS's sit in PVP killing one another than their P2W button must not be working for them to well.

That still doesn't define P2W in a game where none of that matter, when F2P can still accomplish PVE missions with guess what F2P gear. So it still boils down to does P2W only apply to PVP? And if so than bid deal it's not hindering anyone from completing anything other than challenging another player for some stupid accolades or dilithium.

pvp is a joke no lie but thats due to the dev can you see them giving any thing better then fleet base gear now? imo no because that cut in to their blackhole of resource skin aka fleetbase grind
and i think a lot forget the dilithium exchange some one some where paid money to put dill and zen their for ppl who grind it and not ever pay a dime am i wrong or right on this i seriously like to know?
if we would be forced to play and win in pvp then some ships would be problem but we do not need to win or play pvp and u can buy all that op ships for free 60-80 m how much they cost is not a lot 15 days of 10+ hours farm and sto atm is one of few f2p games which u can play for free and it is not free trail game

Exactly, this is by far one of the best if not the best F2P MMO available atm. The last one I usually played was way closer to what you could come to define as P2W, but even they would argue you can still grind and buy that P2W stuff. Just at the expense of about a lifetime to get it is what they forget to mention!!! Their power creep puts this games to shame when it comes to defining the difference between a P2P and a F2P player.

and what takes you a what 150 hours? takes me a few clicks with google pay i dont have time for sto to become a full time job i have other games to play

Veteran Rewards for spending money gives players something that helps them win a unique ship you can't get otherwise.
