Reassign Underperforming Duty Officers . . .

article001article001 Member Posts: 73 Arc User
. . . missions are accepting bound doffs as input.

Was this an intentional change (I took a short break from game) or is it a bug?

It has always been this way. The acceptability of a doff for grinding doesn't depend on whether or not it is bound, but some arbitary characteristic. Doffs from Ferra and his KDF equivalent cannot be ground. Entertainment holograms and a few other special doffs like Helna are also ungrindable. But regular bound doffs, such as Supports, have no problems with degrinding.

Although why you would fall for that "Underperforming" upgrinder TRIBBLE bait is beyond me. That one is a ripoff.

The dil cost for some random thing. Yes it is cheaper than buying a DOFF from the store, but that is because you are effectively doing the DOFF lottery, whereas if you buy a DOFF from the store you get the one you want.

You could put in five security DOFFs for example thinking you will get another security DOFF and end up with a bar tender which could be useless to you.

Enh... it's advertised as random so......

Anyways, Heretic's stated purpose for adding it to the game was to make it so that players with extra doffs had a way to get rid of them other than dismissing them or selling on exchange....

I never said it wasn't. I was responding with a possible reason as to why doffing called it "TRIBBLE bait" as some consider lotteries to be a schmucks game, and this is in essence a lottery.

Officer exchange missions do the same thing and cost nothing in dil. Again it is a lottery as to what you get at the end.

Bound DOFFs have not always been usable in the Reassign missions.

    Yes, they have.

Doffs from Lt. Ferra have never been usable in the upgrinder. Those doffs are bound, but that's not why they can't used for this.

But a doff from any normal source, that you've bound to yourself by using it in an active slot sometime in the past, has always worked for this. So have the Support doffs.

Nothing has changed about the grinder since it was introduced except its cost, and the addition of a downgrinder.

so some bound doffs "yes" and some bound doffs "no" . . . makes perfect sense now.

Binding only prevents you from transferring the doff to another toon or player. Nothing else is affected.
