No Win Scenario in a Vesta?

So, anybody tried it? Someone I know said they were working on one so I thought it might be something I can do with my unused and unloved science toon.

I've built this with floating in mind, but I'd like to be able to at least cover S and W on wave 10, maybe not N or E.

Any thoughts, suggestions, changes?

I get the feeling I'm stuck in "Escort Mode" given that most of my characters are tacs in escorts, and I haven't had too much experience with flying a science captain. Any input would be appreciated.

Also thinking about the graviton pulse generator after reading a thread about it. With really high aux and science skills I could make good use of it for wave control. I've never actually seen it in action but it *sounds* like a TBR type of ability which could be used to hold a flank in place for the extra time needed.

The grav pulse would be great for crowd control, but it takes 3 mins to recharge, so you should have Tractor (Repulsors) and Grav wells ready too if you want to do serious crowd control

Okay a 3m cool down makes it not so worthwhile, we're talking probably only 2 good uses per run - so not worth the console slot. Might try it out anyway but I would imagine that it'sa bbit too gimmicky and not really useful.

Guess there's no love for NWS builds.

Last bump for suggestions before I abandon the idea and let it die.

    Abandon your butt

Been meaning to try this as well. With the recon, guess I'd go

    TT1, CSV1
    TT1, CSV1, APB2 (with AP doffs)
    EPtW1, RSP (with doff)
EPtW1, or EPtS and the DCE doffs
HE, TBR, something, Grav Well 3?

Not sure if any of the consoles would be worth it, maybe multidimensional wave thingie.

Could roll max aux power and try phaser aux DHCs and turrets. Have we experimented with mines in there? Guess as I type this out I'm less excited. Maybe could cut S or W, floater might be most appropriate.

    Gwen! Hello good sir.

Interesting points - with regard to the aux DHCs I don't think it's worth it, better just cranking out as much Aux and W power as you can, dump the engines and shields.

Hmm, EPtW might work - and yeah I should really replace TSS1 with HE1.

It was numbers who said he'd made one and it handled pretty well, so next time I see him around I'll have to pick his brains about it.

    Butts.

I use a vesta build (bought the bundle) - its good for a floater - you can buff your team mates and help their survivability (increasing total DPS on the field) and heal the Transport during and between waves.

The consoles abilities that come with it are quite powerful. Maxing Aux power for the Aux DHCs make all the aux power used BOFF abilities maxed most of the time.

I need some tweaking- but take a look if you like.

I say there's plenty love for NWS builds; but a Vesta?! My instinct tells me "I will likely survive in my Vesta, but will do nowhere near enough DPS to get anywhere close to lv 10."

If you ever do manage, though, I'd love to read about it! :)

i'm told the best way to go is (as always) for as much dmg as possible..

so the best way is to have 4-5 escorts or whatever with lots of dhcs, using scatter volley and all those nice tactical boff and captain skills.. and dont forget tractor repulsor beam

at least thats what the guys from me fleet are doing and they are farming nws heavily
