For the Devs - What about the Romans (Planet 892-IV)

To the developers,

Magna Roma was the planet 892-IV in TOS episode Bread and Circuses. It was also in a TNG book Captains Honor. Could this be brought into STO? Cool Roman ship design. (If not new designs then new materials) Futuristic Romanesque armor and broad sword. What about a four piece ground set armor, shields, ranged weapon and sword.

Thoughts from the rest of the STO universe?

If I'm not mistaken (can certainly be, I think I watched that episode once some 20 years ago) technologically those guys were somewhere in the mid 20th century.
Assuming they developed at any speed comparable to Trek humans (or at all) wouldn't they still be somewhere in the NX era...and that without the help of a benefactor like the Vulcans to at least help a little bit?

The Federation requires Warp Travel for a race to join up with them. There is also the problem that their government could have been ruined due to a massive slave rebellion. So that could have set them back a hundred years. They might be on the verge of Warp Travel now.

I wouldn't mind a visit to Sigma-Iota II. Went from Plant of 1920s Gangster Hats to when the Federation wandered over years later to check in on things they'd based their entire culture on TOS-era Starfleet, complete with a mocked up Starbase in orbit.

    Impressionable people, the Iotans.

why would they have to join the feddy bears? we have romulans now that would fit them better.

Space romans are kind of what Romulans were meant to be at first. They got turned into space elves somewhere along the way. I can only think its a shame we are stuck with the Trek IP as I think a lot of us might love sci-fi roman warriors with appropriate ships and weapons. Particularly in a game where the main thing we do is kill others and take their stuff with a thin pretense.

Not always. The Warp threshold is used as a baseline that they're ready to be approached.

Not all advanced species will develop Warp. Some can even become so advanced that they never develop ships at all and instead utilize portals to cross the vast distances.

Appearing as if from thin air.
