Son'a Ships (and other obscure races...)

I don't know about you, but I've always been very fond of the Son'a ships. Consequently, I'd quite like to see them in game.

Not that I'd want them to, but they currently have the perfect set for a lockbox ship:
  • Big scary battle ship: Clicky
  • Cute little Battle Cruiser: Clicky
  • Funky shuttle thing: Clicky

So, I've been trying to think of logical ways to integrate it that don't require gamble-spam and annoying everyone. I seriously doubt they'd toss cross faction ships on the C-Store, so short of events with ship rewards I can't think of any way they could get them in there. I also can't think of any appropriate event for Son'a ships, but that's beside the point.

I have two questions:
1) Does anybody else share my fondness of these ships?
2) More importantly, What do you folk think would be a good way to integrate obscure ships from lesser races into the game without using lockboxes?

I've always liked the son'a ships but, the only way i could see a son'a battle ship ingame is a winter event reward. It would be easy to say " the lobi crystal consortium has acquired.... " and it's as easy as that.

Oh I can see another way.....get a box, and put a lock on it.

Yeah that is a preferable way to do it but, i don't see people going mad and spending cash to get one ( but your probably right on the mark ).

    More ships = good.

But, I get the Lockbox scheme/plan because if it is a good source to keep the hamsters running in the server room, then I agree to continue using them.

But its easy for me to say that because I will only fly Fed ships :P

Seems to me like you've got the cruiser and battleships mixed up. If you look at the scene where the Enterprise arrives at the Baku planet, Ru'afo's ship seems to be the smaller design. The bigger ones also fare better against a Sovereign, while Ru'afo's ship gets pwned in two shots.

Even though lockboxes are sort of unpopular, Son'a ships would seem to be perfect for Cryptic's lockbox format. You put Ru'afo's ship in the box as a destroyer, put the bigger ships up as battlecruisers for 800 lobi, and the shuttles or fighters or whatever they were in as small craft in the lobi store. Could even throw in some Son'a BOFFs/DOFFs etc.

As for other ships, I'd like to see Xindi, they had some cool ship designs (except the primates, they were just copies of one of the generic race ships from earlier in the show).

Son'a are owned by Paramount rather then CBS, so it would be a deal where using them would require CBS to get permission from Paramount - and that might require some money changing hands.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Paramount owns the Trek films under a license from CBS.

Really? I know they're a film asset rather than a TV asset, but so are several things that exist in here atm (sovereign-class, TMP uniforms etc). I though that CBS had rights to everything before ST11.

EDIT: Just seen your post above me! Must've been writing as you posted. I'd like to see them, but not as playable vessels. Rather I'd like to see them in a story.

    Sphere: WANT! :D

Okay... it'd be a bit OP to be playable but still. :P
