I really do like this game but there is far far to many obnoxious rude/aggressive players in it!
You try help people and others end up flaming you or calling them noobs and getting all aggressive with you when you tell them to shut up!
There is far to many elitist jerks in this game ruining it for many other players- what is the attraction to been a bunch of douchebags? I guess this attracts a lot of immature players being F2P.
Ah well lucky its free and doesn't cost anything- I guess that's what attracts these rude/obnoxious types to a game- as they know they cant play subscription games or buy games as they probably banned from them all.
ah well...go figure

Actually, this is one of the friendliest communities i have seen. you will always get a couple bad eggs, but overall there are many more helpful players than jerks
Quoted for truth.
And don't go blaming it on F2P, because a lot of those bad eggs are in fact subscribers/LTS.
Beyond all that, I've never been in a game that wasn't full of some percentage of jerks - especially if the game has a lot of PvP. There's a reason why most games come with the Ignore feature in the chat system.
One bad apple I suppose. Unfortunately, the best way to handle this is with /ignore feature. While it doesn't prevent you from being queued with the player in the future, it does for ever eliminate the need for you to see their rants.
Star Trek Online, Now with out the Trek....
As for people who try to help in stfs...
Even I, the "Grand A**hole" try to help when I see things are going horribly wrong (or going to). The problem is that when pugging, none of them care, and I have my limits. Now I'm not defending elitism, because honestly I hate that too. I am however saying that there could be other reasons behind how people interact around here. In general the elitism involved in this game is so utterly mild compared with other games, oh let's say...WoW?
In short, if you're pugging and don't like the people you get stuck with, don't pug, run with your fleet. If you can't stand the people in your fleet, leave the fleet. There are better friendlier fleets out there. If you find that zone or local chat is the problem, shut it off and make a new tab for just your fleet/team channels.
I just turn off the chat because I'm too busy trying to stay alive to take time to read or type words. Of course I'm probably one of the ones the Elitists are flaming about but that's OK because I'm here to have fun.
Many sarcastic comments are often sparked because one player is ruining the game experience of other players. There is usually a very good reason for negative comments and instead of complaining about rude elitist jerks he would be better of starting think about triggered the comments and how he can improve his gameplay.
Space and ground STFs are actually not that difficult but require at least a small level of communication and cooperation between players. That also means everyone has to pull at least their weight in a STF. If one players starts killing generators in Khitomer Vortex in his super special pony-rainbow beam boat then running off to the other side of the map as soon as a cube spawns,he should be prepared take some sarcastic comments.
Well, there are some... rare indeed... but there are... total jerks. Last time I met one he started yelling in team chat exactly 1 sec after the pug started : "YOU BETTER NOT NOOB THIS OR I WILL [insert favourite insult]". And being a pug... of course they did, not long after. You can imagine what followed.
Now, if a long experience with pugs should have taught everyone some things (along with the discretionary use of the ignore function), these well may be:
1. Don't pug (if you don't like it). Form your own teams with your mates or find them on PublicEliteSTF or whatever in case you don't have a fleet/friends.
2. If you pug... EXPECT NOTHING GOOD. Anything above that is illogical and unrealistic. You can congratulate yourself at the end if it goes well.
3. If you still can't help but pug.... STFU... no one will care about what you have to say be it well-intended or not. Say it if you absolutely can't hold yourself but don't expect anything good to come out of it.
4. If you failed a pug because of "their incompetence"... it's still your fault... see #1. They might be noobs, stoopid idjits or whatever, but it's still YOU THAT QUEUED the pug ultimately. Take it like a man, shut up and move on.
5. If you can't move on when you failed a pug because of them and feel the need to rage and be a jerk in general... you need help kid.... go see a shrink or whatever.
In general its in everything - today alone, I was trying to help out a new person to stf elites by offering advice on what to do and well got a mouthful for trying to help out- and then on spacedock was trying to give a guy some fleet tips and got abuse from that as well.
Its just in general when you think you trying to help people that others have to stick their noses in and just be general rude idiots.( the guy in the stf kept getting himself blown up due to not having tactical team to prevent the borg from beaming in- just gave him a tip and he got all aggro)
Guess I just won bother trying to help people in the future due to their behaviour as I have always liked trying to help out people as we all where beginners at one stage and had to learn either the hardway or in most cases from advice from people.
Been around a very long time in mmo's (right from the beginning-yeah I am a old man now lol) and I have seen mmo's get worse each passing year with peoples manners in them.
Anyways peace out all.
I think I see where your problem is.

If you think it is bad then try Star Wars: The Old Republic. Heck, even try Counter Strike or Battlefields 3, and come back and tell us how did it go.
