The haircut adds about 20 pounds. Are you sure this isn't an advertisement for a local gym?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Many people get heavier as they get older - it's a byproduct of getting less exercise as you age. Heck, look at John Frakes.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Forget Frakes, it's hard to believe that's the good ol' Captain Kirk in Priceline commericals.
Yeah, but grandpa Bill is 82, so we can cut him some slack. Johnny's been big since his late 40s.

Then again, it might have to do with being out partying with his fiancee, as mentioned in this news story. Just having a fiancee at his age probably involves a lot of exercise.
Even heavier, Mulgrew looks better than she did a few years back. I saw her in a personal interview a few years ago, and she was thin, wrinkled up, and her hair was gray, and stringy. She looked like the crazy cat lady from the Simpsons then.
While ageing can be unkind to some, and if you are a public personality the commentary can be brutal, at least they were pretty or handsome at one point in their life as most of us are never to be so lucky. Then there are the totally gifted that keep their looks seemingly at any age, like Hedi Klum just for example that you know get all the jealous comments.
Shatner, Frakes, Mulgrew, ageing hasn't been so kind to them but they have born it with good grace. Jeri Ryan is doing fairly well on the other hand.
Of course there are some actors and actresses from Trek's history that haven't aged so well and I have to avoid taking pleasure in the fact. I am thinking of Kirsty Alley and her comments regarding Trek fans back in the day. She was a looker, hated us, and I distinctly remember her comments from an awards show to the audience about how her husband of the time was gifted with an extraordinarily big "personal package" as her acceptance speech. Then, she promptly gained about three hundred pounds, lost her husband, and turned into a whiny social reject that can't get a job. I take it back. I actually feel sorry for her.

Give the woman a break, do you look the same as you did however long ago that the Janeway picture was taken?
I'd have to agree with what otisnoble says.
It's called Life. The only ones who don't change much are those whom pay for surgery (then look like a plastic Frankenstein) , or have million dollar personal trainers and equipment.
Besides, what a person looks like, has nothing to do with who they Are.
Your soul never changes, you are who you Are. Always and forever.
The only difference is, what side of You , others choose to see or not.
That person is still Captain Janeway in my opinion, and always will be. Much better to look real instead of false (plastic), cause it shows You are real and not false.
Look at Captain Kirk, (the original), he changed as time went on, but he was still one of the best Captains in Starfleet in the movies.
He was still and will always be, Captain Kirk, or spock will always be spock.
Age gets you at all your bodies. Eventually. The only difference is those whom accept the change of age and remain positive good kind sweet old people , or those who grumble and hate it and become grumpy old folk.
Most actors love the opportunity to be practically unrecognizable in a role. I've seen several refer to it as "liberating", freeing them to create a more powerful character. If they can accomplish that without being covered in facial prosthetics, so much the better.
I'm just curious if the look will be brought over to Warehouse 13 (assuming that character has not died. I've not seen this latest season yet.)
It's been really fun watching her play Red on "Orange Is the New Black." She's still got some of the same mannerisms that give me flashbacks of the Janeway days. She's really an incredible actress.

I was a Mulgrew fan years before she was Kathryn Janeway. Since Voyager, I'd watched her on Warehouse 13 and was aware she was gaining weight. But I thought she still looked good. A roommate showed me Red last week and did do a double-take. Those red eyebrows, wh*re-red lipstick and that terrible wig she is wearing, as Red, seem to have been chosen on purpose. To make her look that much heavier. Once I got over the shock, Mulgrew is rather amazing as Red.
I'm honestly more surprised to have not yet read gleeful responses from the Janeway Haters. With regard to Janeway finally being convicted - and sent to the Starfleet Stockade - for incompetence. After choosing to stay in the Delta Quadrant. :P
Now I want a t-shirt with that picture. Captioned, Red is the new black...

1000% Agreed. Every now and again she takes a stance (like hand on hip when sternly talking) and you can see Janeway for like a split second. Or sometimes I look at her and think it's Janeway on a holideck acting out a character. I didn't even know she was on it until I watched the first episode.

No offense, but what a load of <....>.
Plastic surgery and personal trainers? How about something far more scary: common sense.
Watch what you eat and walk/ride a bike for 1 hour a day.
You don't need diets or 24/7 training schedules or botox.

I finally sat down and watched a few episodes after having TONS of people saying "Paul you must watch this show it's awesome!"
At first I knew the voice but REALLY couldn't tell it was her then was like  when it dawned on me. I think she's playing that role quite well and even though I've only watched a few episodes, hope her character grows. Overall though love the show it's quite a unique cast of characters and I do highly recommend it

Jonathan Frakes is getting all of Patrick Stewart's retired-Starfleet-Captain pounds. :P
Stewart found a away around that: cuddling a cat while asleep takes enough energy to keep you slim.:P

Oh don't worry, lots of offense taken.
And you clearly reveal your level of being. I'd suggest doing some more growing up before speaking kiddo.
god bless ya
Now it is true that you'll end up looking older anyways, but getting fat isn't part of aging..... (I dont really think Mulgrew is fat either)

Its just disrespectful.
She is awesome on OITNB!
Great show.
