Put all sliders to minimum, you'll be able to say he had a time/space-anomaly accident. Oh, be sure to change his name, or yo'll might be banned...just saying.

Yeah lol, dont worry no way I would ever use the same name just look:cool:
You are not allowed to make characters that look like actors. Or real people in general.
Just giving ya a heads up.

Um people I do beleave you can make anything you want look like a cannon character as long as you do not use cannon names. U.S.S. Enterprize can be used because its NOT A CANNON NAME, it is used in royal navy ships such as the H.M.S. Enterprize. So everyone please rethink what you saying because there would not be any visors or such cannon gear if you could not make something similar to a cannon character. That being said it seems there's a lot of confusion on this topic and should be cleared up by pwe staff.
Fair enough. I thought that rule applied to the whole game. My mistake.
And for some reason, I find Dr Dusher highly amusing.

I actually used a 'P' instead of a 'D' for my toon...
But thought better of posting that particular name around here.

"Bloody explorers, ponce off to Mumbo Jumbo land, come home with a tropical disease, a suntan and a bag of brown lumpy things, and Bob's your uncle, everyone's got a picture of them in the lavatory."

I am 99% certain that the appearance rule applies only to the Foundry. There are a number of legal reasons for this, such as the fact that STO is essentially "hosting" Foundry content in a for-profit setting, which probably runs into licensing and likeness issues, whereas a random player is just using the character creator and it would be unreasonable (and impossible) to prohibit all likenesses to anyone who's 'real' unless everyone is expected to make eight foot tall green aliens.
The naming system is also picky, and will not accept a number of canon names for ships or characters; however, there are ways around this. You may however want to weigh the use of the name versus looking stupid. If you decide to go this route, be sure that your name at least doesn't look SUPER stupid, as with so many who have done this before you.
DISCLAIMER: Not a GM, don't know this for a fact, haven't tried it, I could be wrong.
Unless Cryptic is automatically censoring, then it doesn't matter what you name your character. Or at least until someone sends a support ticket about your name. It is safer to name your bridge officers whatever you want since hardly anyone sees them.
Why would you want a Blue, Sesame Street Monster from Ohio as a BOff??
:P

You can not make a character that looks like LaForge and name him so in the foundry or in the main game. that is against the rules. someone manually has to report you and they probably wont ban you straight away, but will encourage you to change it before taking further action.
you should be able make a character that looks like him as long as you name him something different.
Alright to get this thread back on track to the reason it was made with everything cleared up, does anyone know the best settings to make a character(not name or foundry) look like Laforge?

Of course you can. But you won't be able to use the 1701 designation.
Actually, no you cannot as far as i know, it does not allow you to use the name.

you cant get banned, because no matter how close you get
to making exact copy, it will never be a perfect copy...

for the foundry i am surprised no one has bothered to create
parody version of the episodes.

I like coming up with original characters instead of someone who sounds like they came out of a star trek adult movievparody minus the good stuff.
Fan fiction or foundry characters I can see, interacting with setting Characters can help bind your characterto the setting.
Example Irinol the Cobra, one of my tac officers.
Darn, there goes my Capt. Grover Cleveland toon...
