I love ground combat. Scratch that, I freakin' LOVE ground combat. It's quick, fluid, (somewhat) balanced, and you look like a badass when shooting down Borg with your fellow Omega Force operatives.
That said, it needs a bit of love. Now granted, Space stuff is the big part of the game, with all the plethora of ships that have much more customization options than ground stuff ever will, but I'd love if it could come back from it's slumber and be loved by more people. Here's a few of the things I'd love to see in ground STFs:
1) Weapon balance. There's a very similar feel between Sniper Rifles and High Density Beam rifles at the moment, and there's a very similar feel to Dual Pistols, Full-Auto Rifles and Miniguns right now, and I'd love if they were a bit more different. IMHO, Sniper Rifles should have the role that Blast Assaults have right now: powerful shots with a decent cooldown between shots, to sort of simulate that 'One shot, one Kill' vibe in most games where sniper rifles are a thing, and it's secondary shot should be as it is right now, but maybe with a CritH buff or something. You could make High Density Beam Rifle's secondary shots give a higher chance to land a proc, which would make 'em into very useful weapons, as everything they do, a Sniper Rifle can do better, and for that matter so can a Split Beam Rifle.
As for Full-Auto Rifles? Make all of them behave like the Piercing Beam Rifle. After all, the name of the weapon's quite misleading! It's not really Full-Auto unless you use its secondary attack, and even then, the Piercing Beam Rifle does it better. I very rarely use Full-Auto Rifles PRECISELY because they're not really full-auto, but I'm forced to use one (The Omega carbine) because of set bonuses.
2)Kit balance. There's a bunch of abilities that aren't very... good. The Science Hypo abilities, while good, aren't very useful compared to the healing or debuffing ones. I think those skills should be merged with other Sci skills or given a weak heal as well. Others, like Stasis Field would be much more useful if you could put more than 1 target under stasis. As it stands, you put 1 target out of the fight for a few seconds, and one or two good shots break the hold. In STFs, where everyone's spamming grenades and full-auto rifle/split beam rifle secondary attacks, it won't really do much. At all. I also think that Engineering turrets and generators need more health! They are destroyed too quick and then they blow up, potentially killing a member of your group. The Smoke Grenade needs some love too, as right now it's not really that useful except to irritate those people who use Shooter mode over Traditional mode.
3)Non-Linear Maps. This is a big issue for me, because Flanking is an actual mechanic in this game! Give us vantage points and non-bottleneck areas in which to successfully flank NPCs and even PCs when it comes to PvP. Most ground STFs are just corridors after corridors, usually separated by bottlenecks.
4)Aiming mechanics and cover. This is an odd problem I've encountered in the game: when you aim at an enemy by using Shooter mode or just clicking on the enemy, you shoot at one specific point the devs designated as its hit box or whatever. Well, certain things' hit box are at the BASE of the object instead of the middle or whatever: the generator at the end of Infected, for example. When you bring down the force field keeping the generator safe, you start shooting at it frantically to bring it down before the consoles reset or whatever and the forcefield comes up! ...Then you notice, the hit box is the BASE of the generator, and you're hitting a small handguard thing instead, doing no damage.
This also happens when you're crouching behind cover: you end up SHOOTING the cover instead of your enemy, or you're aiming too low on the enemy and you end up shooting THEIR cover instead. This is annoying, for the obvious reasons. Being able to CHOOSE where to hit (including headshots) would mean cover would be an ACTUAL thing, which would be really cool.
Anyone else agree with these ideas? Have any of your own to add?

kits are another story. most of them are kinda useless. it would be better if a player can choose freely which skills they want to take in to combat. because now you stuck with several weak or useful skills.
a semi first person shooter mode already exist in game, only few people know of it and barely use it, because its gives no real advantage. you doing more damage in this mode, but it takes like 3 times longer to target and shoot.
same for cover, its already there. crouch and you will have defense bonus. but you have to move more then it will pay out to stay crouched.
