How many people are on a T5 starbase?

Looking at the outside it looks like it could hold millions of people. Any idea "canonically" how many people are on one?

I believe Ds9 was designed to house 3000 people and a major mining operation.
Im not sure if that helps.

The Galaxy class's volume is 5.8 million cubic meters. It carries 1,000 crew, but it's worth noting that it has a very low crew/volume compared to other ships with known canon crew sizes - for example, the Sovereign has 80% of the crew but 30% of the volume, the Defiant has 5% of the crew but 1% oft he volume, etc.

Anyway, DS9's volume is 20.9 million cubic meters (slightly under 4 Galaxise) with a living space capacity of 7,000 (denser than the Galaxy but not as dense as most other Starfleet ships), while ESD's is 5.5 billion (~950 Galaxies). It's not clear how much of that volume is taken up by the internal dock, though, but in the DS9 technical manual it has 24 docking points, with large ships like the Galaxy class taking up to 3 of them. Space for 8 galaxies would disapear into 5.5 billion cubic meters pretty quick.

With a population density similar to the Galaxy class there'd be enough space for getting near a million people on ESD. If living quarters are all on the ground it could be substantially higher. Realistically it's probably somewhat lower, with a lot more people passing through than actually working there. Giving it DS9's apparent crew:visitor ratio would give a crew somewhere around 100-250,000.

The tier 5 player starbase appears to have a bit over half of ESD's volume, but also isn't orbiting a planet so civilian traffic is likely to be much lower.

    Thanks for that information :o

Although it was never stated in the series, according to the DS9 Technical Manual DS9 had a Starfleet crew of about 300, plus another 2000 or so Bajorans and transients.

The station's absolute life-support limit was 25,000 humanoids.

Dont forget that when you board the Fleet Starbase that from Operations. You can look down and see the core of the Starbase. The Core is essentially hollow with numerous shuttle and runabout landing pads. And between them is a large distance of open space. You cant exactly see the bottom where it ends but it appears to go down considerable far. At least half way down the Starbase.
