Borg Assimilated Vs MACO

I'll be unlocking Tier 5 Omega Reputation In about 2 weeks and I've been stock piling Dilithium to Spend on getting an Elite Set but I'm unsure on whether or not to get MACO or Borg Assimilated.

Comparing the two are they both equal or is the MACO Set just generally better?

A popular combination is using the borg engine and deflector, and the MACO (or Adapted) shield. It really depends on your ship and play style though. Don't be afraid to mix and and match. The third piece bonuses tend to be a bit disappointing, and you most likely won't miss them.

I wanted to use something different than the usual maco/Borg so I've gone for the omega gear, great visuals lovely tet glide shield stripper and the movement bonus are great for my dread.

I second mixing and matching sets. If you can have a look at your fleet store if you have a chance to see what's available there for you.

It's highly unlikely you will find a full set that actually meets your needs. That's not your fault. It's just almost every set was very poorly conceived and they are yet to fix them like the Jem'Hadar set. I don't think we will ever see them fixed so I wouldn't bother waiting around for them to fix a set you like. Just get whatever pieces work best for you.

I've never really used the full M.A.C.O. much, but I have experience with assimilated. It's more about tanking than anything else to me. Especially with all the regens it has. But as others have said, it call comes down to your play style and ship build.

Both those sets are for tanking. If you want to do DPS as a TAC, use the Romulan engine and either 2 piece omega set for shield penetration or 2 piece set for kinetic damage buff.

I really haven't decided on a build for my scimitar yet but I have been looking at the Adapted Maco engines as the way to go. Good turn rate and the +3.8 power to weapons, shields and aux isn't a bad thing either.

KHG/Adapted MACO engines are pretty nice, but keep in mind that the power bonuses are Efficient, so you'll be getting less than 3.8 on anything set higher than 15 power, with 0 weapon power most likely, unless you're running it below 75 power setting for some reason. The set bonus for two-piece nets you +8.8 Aux (flat bonus, can overstack) +25% all torp damage, and a huge boost to keeping crew alive, which sounds quite useful for the Scimitar. Three piece bonus is an AoE pseudo cloak and defense buff, which I've heard will keep NPCs from killing you while deploying the Thalaron burst.

Borg set is nice for power levels, regen, and free tractor. For a torp boat, adapted maco shields/engines and nukara deflector. Maco set graviton doesn't really work as well as it used to...another nerf.
