But....(and this is just for the sake of discussion) doesn't that remove the need for any LTS or Veteran to buy a Fleet or C-Store ship? Could be damage impacting. I'd suspect if we see it there'll be fleet module requirements.
Only if you want to fly a destroyer type ship. There's all kinds of escorts, cruisers, and science ships for all factions that a LTS still has to pay for the fleet versions of. On top of that there's a good amount of players that come to this game to fly a specific ship, their favorite ship. People love all the iconic canon designs. Designs that don't come with the LTS/Vet. So I'm of the opinion that bumping up the vet ships to fleet level wouldn't impact the sales of other fleet ships.
I'll use myself as an example. I bought the Dhael, Dhelan Retrofit, and Fleet Dhelan for my Romulan. Even if the Daeinos were a fleet level ship, I still would have bought those three and flown those instead. Why? Aesthetics. I like how the Dhael looks and don't really want to fly anything else. It's my favorite Romulan ship.
It might impact LTS sales however. I've seen people who were looking into buying a LTS wanting opinions on the ship and almost every time others come back with "Meh, it's alright but there's better out there." Bump it up to a fleet level ship and it sweetens the deal even more. Buy a LTS and get a complimentary fleet level ship thrown into the deal. I think it could boost LTS sales. Maybe not by a whole lot, but I'm willing to bet there would be people out there who would drop the cash on a LTS to get the fleet level vet ships.
Now I have no doubt that there would be some people out there who would only use the vet ships but I'm not convinced that they would be a large enough number to effect the bottom line on the fleet ships. So in short, my opinion is that it would not harm fleet ship sales but might boost LTS sales by a small margin. I think that Cryptic would only gain and not lose anything by doing this.
If they do this, mark my words, it'll cost four fleet modules. Free ships don't get module discounts with a vet reward token and they won't here either.
They'll say, "Hey. It costs us money to develop a fleet veteran ship and hook it up. If you're a lifer and want it for free, save your stipend for 4 months or grind dilithium to exchange for ZEN."
It isn't a free ship though. There are only two ways to get it and both cost money. A lot of it.

And, I'm saying, vet reward token ships don't trigger a fleet module discount so this won't either. The game has too many lifers drawing stipends for them to consider offering it for 1 FSM.

I think the difference is that using the vet token isn't an account wide unlock whereas the vet ship is. Even though I get a token on every character I make, the ship I get with that token is a one time deal. If I dismiss that ship, I have to pay to get it back. The vet ships are account wide so if I dismiss my vet ship, I can always get it back at no additional charge. It's already unlocked for my entire account. Now technically I could use the vet token to buy the same ship on every character. However the game technically doesn't recognize it as an account wide unlock. The vet ships are recognized as such though.
So following Cryptic's current fleet ship model, account wide unlocks trigger the discount. As the vet ship is recognized as account wide whereas using a vet token is not, I would argue that if they were to charge a FSM for a fleet vet ship, it would only be 1 as it follows their current model. It's a technicality for sure, but those are what often make the difference.
I very much doubt Geko would upgrade the Veteran ships for free. More likely he will make a Fleet version for everyone.
For Veterans, they get the console and it costs 1 module. For normal folk, it costs them 4 modules and no console.
This is why i am still in my breen ship.
It has 10 consoles, and 8 weapon slots, I would love to go back to my vet fed ship and I could live with dropping 1 weapon slot however I can't live with the drop of the console as well
I don't belong to a fleet so can't get a fed ship with 10 consoles.
The console it self is an extra console slot. Normally the lotus blast would be a console in of itself, but it also ups wpn power and accuracy which is also a console itself as well. I could see the bump in shields and hull but I don't think it needs an extra console slot. Almost all cstore ships console just add one thing with their console. The kumari's add either a shield draining shot, a dmging shot, or extra ill guys that fire when you do. The t'varo adds a console that removes the cd on your singularity powers. The D'D shoots out a grav well essentially. But the vet ship does this (the lotus) and still adds stats to your ship, looky there 2 consoles in one! Now if people remove the console then yes it's a Normal 9 slot ship and yes you don't get to pick what extra console you want in there but essentially it is a 10 console ship with out the bump in hull and shields. You show another cstore ship that gives you 2 wpn firing abilities and that also gives you a stats boost in ONE console slot and I will eat my words. And no cstore packs do not count, ONE console not three.
May be add another buff to the console for each mode. Like add turn rate bonus for tact mode and all resist for regenerative mode. And then just give the vet ship the bump in shields and hull while keeping it 9 consoles and thus no fleet version needed.
NO!
proof: ferengi dkora console. it also use "morphing" in to battle mode and has in each mode an extra skill (which btw. have way shorter cooldown). and its a 10 console ship.

Once again I said CSTORE ship cause that's what it is, the lock box ships are different. Quit trying to compare lock box ships to cstore ones, they are not the same and never will be.
So once again I put out the challenge, show me a CSTORE SHIP that has a console that gives a special ability AND a stat boost.
didn't read much, but: yeah, i want it to be on par with fleetships. and nope: i don't see a point in paying for. i want it to be buffed just as galor f.e. when first 10-con-ships had been released.
I think the Vet ships are already on a par with many Fleet level ships thanks to the unbelievably meaty console and universal slots.
The KDF Pegh'qu is a beast - a Raptor with a battle cloak and +30 Acc ! - and still my KDF tac's ship of choice. Especially now that the Fleet eng consoles help with turn rate. I don't feel that upgrading to a Fleet Raptor or BoP would necessarily be an upgrade.
I don't expect the Vet ships to be on a par with Lockbox ships - those cost about the same as an LTS anyway in terms of the number of keys you need to buy, and of course you get a lot of other extras with an LTS (not least the zen stipend).
Really, the vet ships are competitive with Fleet ships as it stands - bump them up with Fleet console / shield / hull boosts and they'd practically be Lockbox level. I can't see Cryptic sanctioning that.

man, what have you smoked? vet ship is NOT a c-store ship and we do not compare them.
we compare vet ships to high-end 10 console ships, regardless if its a 3-pack, fleet or lockbox.
its about the base stats like shield/hull modifier and 10 console slots.
The chimera only has 9 console slots and the tactical and regenerative '' universal console'' takes up 1 of those slots so effectively making it a 8 console ship. There is no point in even flying the chimera without the universal console because any number of other escorts are better. I really love the chimera and I wish it was on par with other ships. It is a veteran ship so by common sense it should be atleast as good or better than any end-game fleet vessel. Not to mention that you are completely forced to use phasers if you want to use the lotus anyways. The chimera either needs another tac or science console. OR the universal console can be removed in favor of integrating the ability into the ship while still having the original 9 console slots. AND the lotus beam array attack should adapt to ANY energy type you choose to use!
I totaly agree!
I don't use my chimera: i prefer andorian charal with 10 consoles.
Veteran ships must get 10th console slots.
Ability such as lotus? 5 min cooldown? Maybe in a stf you can use it 1 or 2 times.
Add 10th console slot, atm i'm not happy with my reward as veteran, i don't play it...
1 more thing.
We get 10th console slot layout with the FREE ship (risa corvette)
And not with the veteran reward, that must be a GREAT reward...
No no, i'm not happy... i'm very angry.

Where's your proof?
Love when people just make assumptions.

Plus, Cryptic will probably make money on it.. win win for all..

I already have loads of 10 console ships : fleet,3pack,lockbox etc
Its absurd the vet reward ships are still 9 consoles, espeically when the team went back and gave an extra console slot to old lockbox ships (d'kora)
600 day vet reward ships is 9 consoles too, 1000 day should be 10
