My game actually crashed once loading Vault Ensnared, when I logged back in again the entire team, bar my fleet mate had rage quit.
A friend of mine also takes a little bit of time to load into maps as he lives in a remote part of Australia and people have rage quit and spouted a load of abuse about him being a leecher before he's even loaded the map.

THis is why I wait for an interaction in the map before I consider them a leecher.

If they is there and never do ANYTHING but then warp away on completion after grabbing their loot (STFs) reported.

If they Need on everything while contributing nothing, Reported.

If they sit at the spawn or jsut slightly away from it and pop in and out sporadically then Yeah, connection issues.

First of all it's not even a crafting system! It's just a dumb game system that's nothing more than a glorified slots machine.

yea its been that way for a long time.
    just people dont pay attention.

STF - wait out 15mins and you can leave with out being penalized
other pve queue missions are different with shorter timers

the fleet queues are the same 15min timer before you can leave
    with out a penalty.

if thats what your talking about.

OMFG someone else who knows or has listened to what I have been trying to tell people for the longest time about getting by the 1hour leaver's penalty when dealing with afkers. TY for trying to point that out, and hopefully someone else will listen.

The penalty isn't as simple as 15min. Don't be the first to leave, either. Even then you may still get it.

My latest story. Queue up for IGE. Get dropped into game where a player left when 1st hostage lost. I know the option is gone, no problem. I make a few comments in team chat along the way, nothing mean or nasty, just info on how to play the map. Nobody chats in team chat the whole way. At the boss room I say clear center and go for corners. One player sends me a PM along the lines of "...who are you to tell me?" I am busy with the 2nd corner so ignore it. That player leaves while we do the 3rd corner. We manage to drop becca the first go-round, and that idiot lost out on the drop. I don't understand the attitude some players have about helpful advice.

Unsolicited advice is sometimes viewed negatively. For this reason, I'll generally offer to go over the tactics with a failed attempt, or pm someone who is obviously struggling, after the mission, maybe run it a couple times with them on Normal (more fogiving, and more time to talk).

Trust me 15mins. after the start of an STF, you can be the first to leave and not suffer the hour penalty. I have done this on occasions that people have leeched or cannot complete the actual mission. But don't get me wrong you will suffer it if the actual mission fails.

See now that kinda TRIBBLE would TRIBBLE me off. Just sit tight for the allotted time to expire and you can leave without a penalty. Someone logging off simply because of the given situation, could have prevented others if they did want to at least try from doing so causing them to leave and suffer a penalty.

I guess it works better now. Is there an easy way to see elapsed time, or do you just note the start time yourself?

You can monitor it by the game time shown, but in some cases you will have to guestimate unless you noted the exact time of start.

Or simply wait until the optional is failed, that is a surefire way to tell that 15 minutes have passed.
Usually the optional starts 2-3 minutes after entering the map.

You rage quit when someone performs a useful function in the game? Eng tanks can and are very useful in many situations.

I'm not sure what else I can do really. I have full sets of M.A.C.O. gear both ground and space

Kind of surprised nobody even mentioned this. Its the #1 sign of a terrible player. What else can a person do to not inspire quitters? The bad player gets the best, most expensive gear in the game, and then proceeds to play completely wrong using it to 2% of its ability.

As a fleet leader I see people with 4 torpedos and a beam array thinking they do AMAZING, damage logs say otherwise, and the reason they don't do better is because they don't have fleet gear, according to them. Those people are denied access to fleet stores until they straighten out garbage builds so a HEC doesn't get out DPSed by its own standard fighters. And the problem isn't the build entirely, its the attitude that they are fine and not the problem, hence not willing to change.

Let me start by saying that I only do normal STF's so I tend to raise an eyebrow at the tought of quitting.
However, I have have left when there is not enough people to be able to do anything. It happened some time ago in Hive Onslaught, for example. Everyone was dying a lot. My Defiant did ok but the torpedo plasma was sure death when it hit. Three guys quit, and it's all left for me and a Klingon. I did my best to keep going as he also fought honorably, but there were just too many Borg for us and we ended up supporting each other defensively rather than being able to mount any attack. After a few minutes we both agreed that we had no choice but to quit. If they hadn't quit, it could have taken time and could have been difficult, but we could have done it.

Now I usually just play Infected the Conduit, and see people leaving when the optional is gone. It's only 4 marks...
I suppose it's too hard for them when there are 6 or 7 spheres around...
