Nukara beams animation

vesterengvestereng Member Posts: 2,252 Arc User
Are those the normal tetryon blue ones? They don't have a special animation, color or sound effect, do they?

I noticed the guns are all replica skins so I am guessing the refrecting beams are too?

Also the dual beam from the nukara set is that the white metallic sound effect beam I've seen?

Lastly if anyone tried the mines from the nukara set, what are they like and what do they do vs tractor mines for controlling - do they actually make a web and how long does it last.

Thanks

Nukara web mines lock a target in place and deal damage to it for 4 seconds. Unlike tractor beams, the webbed target can't do ANYTHING while trapped.

I love snagging cubes and Donatra in them.

As some one who doesn't have the mines, but has been caught in one, several times they create a tholian web around your ship, which traps and it starts doing damage. As I understand it they normally only drop 2 mines not 4, but you only need one to capture someone so that's not so bad.

In fact the only three reasons that finishing the nukara rep is worth it is the active power at the end, the elite widows, and the mines.

Honestly I'm not sure how to break out of a web when caught in one, but it does end eventually.

A recluse with these mines and a disperal pattern three would be wicked in an action where there are a ton of enemy ships.

One thing I don't know is can you fire at your enemy while its caught in one?

What good would they be if you couldn't?

The trick is turning around fast enough, I recommend evasive maneuver drift turn.

I've been parsing the elite widows for awhile now and so far they're a waste of dilithium. If there aren't a lot of enemy targets on screen, they barely parse higher than blue 4k credit peregrines. If there are a lot of enemies on the screen, they still parse less than elite scorpions. The kicker is that the low damage they deal to random targets via FAW gets regenerated up almost immediately, which means their already poor contribution to the fight is actually worse than it seems.

Mines are useless in PVE, please stop using them. Especially in my STF's.

I assume no one in the entire game bought those store beams? Well enough said...

After they scripted the spheres to run on infected I built a controller and I promise tractor mines are quite useful not just for crowd control.
Shield destabilizer, anti-matter spread and tractor mines and you will neuter any boss.

After it's a nice little codak moment with a light show it's awesome.

When you not a stereotypical dps'er on a cannon build it's totally allowed. You going to hammer people for having 1 less turret rear port? Come on now

Nukara mines I don't know if they only last 4 seconds. The beauty of my current controller is the good long while tractor mines last so I can drop them in one position and fly off to another and control in 2 positions at once.

I'm wondering, are they any better than the cloacked tractor mines from the FE ?

They just don't seem worth paying for IMO...maybe if the second proc was the one from those Tetryon weapons rewarded from Nimbus they might've been a bit more interesting.

    Too true.

And that's why I might think about it if it were a unique animation since I only use 1 beam.
On polarized disruptor at the moment.
