Dilithium Sharing through Account Bank Please!

tyranthraxisiityranthraxisii Member Posts: 0 Arc User
This is a request for the ability to share dilithium between all of my alts through my account bank(like ec sharing). This should be implemented because it is already possible and quite easy to share dilithium between my characters, and doing it the current way just requires more effort then this would.

I thought WoW's forums had angry elitist snobs, but I never could have imagined the level STO forums has.

Agreed! I'd love to see this feature added as well!

More effort? As in you have to input two numbers instead of one? Perhaps, if you're really weak in math, but consider the advantage: You can move around dilithium from wherever, as opposed to having to go to a bank. (I think, frankly, beaming to your bridge and running to your bank is more effort than a bit of math, but then, that's me, the Sedentary Savant.)

If you want it easy, then why not propose all refined dilithium is pooled in the account, much like zen? Fairly easy to sell to Cryptic too, as Cryptic/PWE want us to spend, spend, spend, and people are far quicker to impulse buy when they don't see their money. (People who pay with debit or credit cards far outspend people who still carry cash, cause they don't actually ever really get to say goodbye to their money. They also get in financial trouble more, but that's not the shopkeeper's problem.)

Anyway, I'm neutral to the whole idea. I don't think the current way is bad, but I don't see a change hurting me.

    Dilithium sharing already exists.

[1] 'sell' your dill at a ridiculous rate (25:1)
    [2] Switch toons
    [3] 'cancel' the transaction

Voila - you 'ave dilithium ;)

    Dilithium = Zen.

    Zen = Actual money

PWE will not allow you to mine multiple alts to make money off of them. Just put the Dilithium on the exchange at a ridiculously low or high rate of exchange.

    Change characters.

    Cancel the offer.

    Done.

And another who doesn't read the startpost or any of the still few replys.

Its like everybody thinks that dilithium exchange thing is a big secret and they want to be the first to reveal it and don't waste time rading anything of the thread in case someone could be faster in revealing it than they.

I'm all behind this idea, I tend to pool all my EC, commodities and artifacts anyway so I'm always going to the account bank before logging off. Using the exchange is a right pain in the TRIBBLE and needlessly overcomplicated.

The point was the current system is less steps. Sell Dilithium from your main menu. Log into a new character and cancel sale and collect Dilithium from your main menu. That is in contrast to:

Go to a bank - or summon a bank to you. Transfer the Dilithium into the bank. Log into new character. Go to the bank - or summon a bank to you. Collect the Dilithium.

The current method requires no travel, no zoning, click a couple of clicks and you're done.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Most of my dilithium gets pooled into my Zen so changing how it's shared between characters on an account does nothing for me right now.

However, I do have a question about trading dilithium between accounts.

Say I have a friend who mines it when he's bored, doesn't really want any of the stuff on the c-store and has his ship loaded out with whatever equipment he wants so he doesn't need it to buy new stuff. If he wants to give me his dilithium to help me save up and pay for something, is it possible to do that?

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the exchange could help with that but I don't remember exactly how it went or if I even imagined it. :P

It would obviously be between two different accounts so the above way of sharing between characters wouldn't work, but is there a way to do it?

This is mainly out of curiosity, everyone i know holds on to their dilithium like a Ferengi holds on to their latinum. :P

Yes there is a way, but it is highly risky in that he would have to sell said zen for some outlandish rate of let's say a ratio of zen 100:25 dilthium and you would have to buy at the same rate. Again this is at a risk because someone else could buy it before you, so timing is critical.

Which my point was that IF he had read the startpost he would have known that he is saying something already known to the original poster.

Second: You don't have to log into another character to cancel the sale, you can if you want to cancel it right away with the char who had the dilithium.

The point is that using it through the Account bank is no faster. The steps to do one are no better then the other. It would simply just be programmer time used that gained no real benefit for the vast majority of players who have multiple characters.
Second: You don't have to log into another character to cancel the sale, you can if you want to cancel it right away with the char who had the dilithium.
That's beside the point. You still need to log into your new character to claim the Dilithium. When you do the cancel is meaningless to the process.

Ok, let me break it down reeeeeaaal simple for you....

The original poster said: monkeys eat some long yellow fruit

Then the other guy said: Monkeys eat bananas

And then I said: If he had read the post, he would have known the op meant bananas

Then you accused me of missing the point by saying: The guy meant its a lot quicker to peel a banana from the top or the bottom not from the middle.

    DO you get it now?

In those 3 posts where absolutely no talk about how fast something is, just if it already exists.

Thats why I wrote "if you want"....your explanation before looked like that you HAVE TO cancel it on the other account.
