I was looking for a fun way to do some trading, and Potentially
find a better use for the DoFF Missions.
What'd I'd Like to do is create a Trade Center for fleets in a system, Then
add in the game various trade centers through all the races's space. Perhaps
we can have the ferengi run the non-fleet versions as a neutral party.
A few things would be accomplished here, The first is that you'd use
DoFF Missions in the trading base specifically to send them off on short
term missions, to trade. One fun thing would even be to add in trading ships
that depart from the trade station, and go to the various trade locations.
The Doff mission or objective part is to Generate Provisions needed for
fleet-starbase projects. So what you'd do is send them off on small
30 minute to 1 hour missions to find up to a % based on Trade station level and (5 % Per level) and of the current amount of Ec invested. So there will be a min/Max cost
of Ec to the project If you max it, you will pay say 80% of the costs of the normal amount, but if you min it, you risk losing it, but down to 30% of the costs.
you would collect that % of active projects you have the fleet working on in the star-base itself. So if you have a quest for 1000 simbolts, he would attempt
to collect up to 250 Simbolts.
Of course, this would come at a cost, Of ec, but that rate would be much cheaper,
then normal buying of provisions. The catch here however, Is that you can fail, and lose the money.
The Second Part of the trade station
Trading for players may be a fun and exciting thing to do, so i was looking
at adding say 10 or 20 trade stations in the galaxy, that would encourage
a buy low, sell high frenzy for players. This trading would help generate
Ec for a player. This part of the trading station can only be
upgraded through TRADE by selling and buying at these stations.
The more a fleet does it, the more they gain.
These trade runs are free trade ran, but mission supported, For example
you can go and do trading all you want but you will find quests that encourage
you to trade supplies etc to specific stations, These quests will grant Dilithium.
On this part of trading, You will find that the provisions have been sorted into three
categories
Military Goods
Engineering Goods
Scientific Goods
Since the leveling will be based on the trading of these provisions broken into these
fields, you'd need a lot of trading to level to tier 5. Your talking a year maybe (i know its a long time buy hear me out).
Now the juice Part.
Every time you respond to a trading posts needs (Like lets say they need water purification systems) and you meet a specific level, You get a provision (or a chance)
for the trask. We can even make this quest based if so desired, Perhapse we can
have those traders DoFF missions also have a chance to find some unique quest
that grants provisions of a specific type (or mix of all at a lower rate, like 2 per each
instead of 6 per single).
This way fleets now have trading, Dott trading, and a source of help to pay for
expensive star-base projects, as well as a means to generate more provisions faster!
You know when you aren't dealing with the games combat mechanics you actually have pretty good ideas. I have been thinking for some time that doffs and fleet starbase system could be better tied in together.
It also would be cool to include a combat element to some of these, lets say the doff mission fails and says trade convoy attacked or something, then if you do a pve mission to rescue the convoy your trading post either loses or gains some type of resouce or provision depending on the outcome. A pvp mode could be included also, protecting convoys from marauding players from the other faction, whoever wins gets bigger reward.
Also maybe there could be some way to have multiplayer doff missions since it is a fleet thing have it require much more doffs from multiple players to do mission then give bigger rewards.
I dont agree, I think the combat suggestions are head on, But i will admit
that the game needs massive additions to content to help make the sto experience
more in depth, and its one of my favorite things to conceptualize on
When i look at the fleet, My biggest worry is the fact that no body ever go's to the star-base.
we really need to try to find a way to tie stuff into getting people in there.
im hoping a trade system, t hat send you from a trade post, to the station is a
good way of doing this.
