I'd like to see more 10-player fleet actions. Even in a large, active fleet, getting 20 people to do the same thing at the same time is a chore. Yet there's usually more than five who want to do something. CCE is a good start, just need more.

10 people would be the right number I think, but I desire something more tactical and involved than a fleet action. Those are kinda boring IMO, probably why you don't find as many willing souls. (That and likely rewards)

Normal difficulty raid: random blue gear drops, small dil reward, small marks reward

Hard difficulty raid: random purple gear drops, large dil reward, large marks reward

    Done.

Yeah except who cares about random purple drops. Most of the time you get TRIBBLE, and most of it is worse than reputation mk xii and fleet mark xii gear. People already hit the dilithium cap so unless its giving refined dilithium that's not really a reward. Marks are not really an issue since you get so many anyway. It takes 50 days to get to Tier 5 in the grinding system. You can get plenty of marks just through normal play.

Nothing there is going to sway people to play harder content. Think of it this way, you could play 1 hard raid that has a potential to fail (and anyone that's ever tried to PUG a raid in WoW before the raid finder can attest), or you could do 2 or 3 easy dungeons and get the same marks and dilithium with next to no chance to fail.

You would need BoP gear that is unique and better than anything else obtaining. That's the only way you're going to get people to do harder than average content regularly.

All this talk of making as much money as possible for as little content as possible, Cryptic's 'Skeleton crew', foundry stuff being 'post end-game' content and why time sinks and no content, etc, etc, etc....

    Here's an idea...

Why not propose to the 'top' (obviously this would be determined by cryptic) foundry authors that they get together and develop some official content for in-game rewards. One of the biggest gripes I hear from foundry authors is that the various 'grinders' often eclipse interesting and well thought out stories. This kind of thing might solve that issue and give 'real' rewards to players who play 'real' foundry created content by making said content part of the 'real' game. Make sense?

I don't know about anyone else here, but I would GLADLY sit down and spend whatever time was necessary to design a Raid/STF or even official type story content if I was going to get paid in Zen for my trouble. The only work required by anyone on Cryptic's team would then really be only limited to quality control - i.e. Playtesting, which can also be done on tribble by players themselves, thus further reducing the work/time/resources required by anyone at cryptic.

Of course I'd rather get paid in real money, I'm not a millionaire, but failing that, getting paid in in-game currencies to help make the game better, even if it does sound like a cheap get out or what ever to some. If you were offered 10k-20k Zen or 500k refined dilithium, 5000 of each type of marks for every character on an account, or more, or all of that, or whatever for what is essentially making a foundry mission to make end-game more interesting, would you say no simply on principle that suddenly this thing you've been doing for free anyway can now be constituted as 'work'?

I appreciate that there would be all sorts of issues associated with this kind of proposal, deadlines, etc, but if we really want the foundry to thrive for what it was 'intended' for (i.e. NOT grinders, but actual stories) then this might be the way to go. Thoughts?

(Edit) I'm talking mostly about community authored and Cryptic sanctioned STF/Raid type content here
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

Yes, but your point also brings up an interesting question, can Cryptic actually do boss mechanics WITHOUT oping them to the teeth like the Tactical Cube was and Hive Onslaught... I honestly do not think they are actually capable of that level of thought...

    So why ask for raids?

This game is the most raid-centric game Cryptic's ever tried to create. And you've seen how that ended up. That STF grind you're bored of? Those were the raids.

This isn't the right game nor the right company to make the kind of content you desire.

Not sure what else can be said. Cryptic just doesn't make that kind of content. Never has. Doesn't look like they ever will.

That was my suggestion for rewards, of course give a bit more than STFs to make it enticing. I believe a proper amount would be a good enough incentive.

What we don't need is more powerful gear. Gear is plenty powerful as is. I got the best gear, I want to use my best gear on something that isn't another player.

I am a people, and I want to play harder content to play harder content. Not for some more gear. For the sake of the challenge and new thing to play. I am a people. I am not alone. I know that you are talking about the part of the playerbase that won't do Hive because there is easier payouts available. There are lots of players that DO play Hive and they aren't chasing gear either.

They never made any other games that sold well because as we know, no countries exist outside of 'Murica.

Right now Hive is at 0 people in the queue while infected has 80. People may play Hive due to the difficulty, but most people will only do it once and then realize that its tougher and there's no reason to do it again.

Just from my experience in playing MMOs most people won't do things unless it gives a better reward.

Hive is at 0 right now because it is bugged.

Just from my experience in playing MMOs SOME people do things for the reward, SOME play the content for it's gameplay value.

Really it boils down to what you are collecting that epic gear for? To check off a list and e-peen to the other players: "Look at my purps!!" or to actually use it to make your character more powerful to take on the toughest challenges? I know which category I fall under. And while significant, I don't think the former crowd is as large as you believe.

(Even if it wasn't bugged, most of the time Hive is done with premades.)
