Are there any plans to add a tier V carrier to the Federation? I mean a TRUE carrier, not an escort. I am shocked to discover that there isn't one for the Feds. I am also extremely unhappy about this since I love carrier vessels. I'm new to STO and new to Star Trek as a whole. Am I missing something? Is the Tier IV Carrier meant to be played in PVP? if not, PLEASE add a TRUE tier V carrier as soon as possible... I'm sure there are a tonne of other players who would agree with me.

There is one. it's call the Atrox. However I didn't pick it because
a) No frigate - have less freedom in attack choice until you unlock elite scorpion
b) TOO science focused. I didn't picked it because APB is an important buff skill for pets, which can only be slot onced on Atrox.
BTW, There are no tier IV carrier on Fed or RR - only KDF.
Or just roll Klingon and enjoy the Glory that is the free T5 Vo'Quv. Try out it's Mirror version for more engineering.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
Id like to see the jupitor dreadnought as a fed carrier, its big enough an ugly enough. Its also the kind of ship that would suit 'broad side' port an starboard weapon config
I'm still hoping for a fleet version of the Atrox alongside some truely unique Atrox pets (preferrable something sturdy).
Of course it has the stalkers, but even the Elite versions are subpar to both universal fighter hangars out there.
Both sides are waiting on Fleet versions of some of our Z-Store ships.
Fleet Gal X, Fleet Atrox. What about a Fleet Kar'fi, Fleet Garumba etc. It will happen eventually.

This. I would buy this. Although I might prefer a universal lieutenant BOFF slot instead of Lieutenant Eng, but that might be asking for too much. Not sure what your Lightning-class light escort would be...
Hmm. If they did add a playable Typhoon, it could stand to use some variants, such as a Fleet of 2409 version. However, I don't know if it would be best implemented as a counter to the Scimitar. I would much rather it be its own ship.
Um, that is way OP. Compare it to the Ody, you've added a higher turn rate, an Ensign boff slot moved up to LtC, and 2 hangars, with no downsides.
His BOFFs are standard Carrier BOFF layout. You lose the Ensign and get a 2nd Lt.Com.
The stats are a bit off but, no Carrier has 4/4 weapons. 4/3 or 3/3. Also the Hull and turn rate just aren't right compared to the Carriers out there.
You either have 35k hull and 7 turn or 42k and 5.5 turn.

Got an Atrox today. Now, whatever I say next, keep in mind I've went through some very good ships (Fleet Sol (RSV), Fleet HEC, Fleet MVAE, the latest being a Fleet Ha'feh).
The Caitian Atrox Carrier is actually a very good ship. I haven't played that much STFs per day since...last year. The only downside is that I would really appreciate an Ens. Tactical slot to accommodate a second copy of TT, but one can never have all he wants.
If you want a full blown carrier - go for it! Build it right and you'll be fine. I was actually amazed that I could kill waves of raptors without a sweat - that is with Mk XI green plasma and mixture of elite scorpions and anvanced danubes.
I don't think I would have been this satisfied if I went in for the Scimitar.

3 of the 5 carriers do have a different layout, though. IIRC, only the Atrox and the Vo'Quv have the 4-man Boff setups, the JH dreadnaught, Kar' fi and Recluse all come with regular 5 boffs.
Enough with asking for Federation T5 carriers.
Carriers are the Klingon specialty and despite that the Federation has the Atrox and Heavy Escort Carrier, not even counting access to the cross faction carriers.
This is not Star Wars, BSG or B5. Fighters play only a very minor role in Star Trek and i wish people would stop asking for more.
Let the carrier stay a Klingon specialty.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
After 3 days with the Atrox, with a science captain, I got to 4/5ths of the DPS I do in my Fleet HEC. And there is a room for at least 1k DPS more. Will take time though, a lot of dilithium is needed for the next step.
To anyone who has second thoughts about getting the "worthless" fed carrier - build her right, flight her right and she will guarantee you a lot of enjoyment.

The federation is the only faction that I recall seeing use fighters on screen (DS9 during the dominion war). An actual fed carrier would be quite nice. I think this is the way to go:
DS9 is the only show where fighters in Star Trek were shown (aside from the scorpion fighters in the Scimitar) hence the "minor role".
Nebula variants are always interesting, but carriers are as far as i'm concerned a no-go.

Think the KDF deserve the Fleet Kar'fi before the Federation gets another carrier.
Indeed. First add the fleet versions for the KDF.

There are Tier V carriers for the Federation: Atrox and Jem Hadar. Now, the Jem Hadar Dreadnought isn't really Fed in origin, but it is available to Federation players, so... it's a "Tier V Carrior for Feds" (to quote the title of this thread).
Did I miss something? Are Caitians no longer part of the Federation? Or don't you consider it a Federation ship just because it doesn't have the typical saucer, hull, nacelles- configuration?

I can't speak for age03, but when I see most people (myself included) say they want to see a Federation ship, they mean a Starfleet ship. The Caitain Atrox doesn't come from Starfleet (rather the Caitian homeworld), the Atrox is commissioned by Starfleet, though. I would like to see a carrier built by Starfleet, in Utopia Planitia.
Regarding the irrelevance of fighters in Star Trek: as in game, fighters/carriers are useful and powerful. They provide an upperhand in many situations. Dismissing carriers because it isn't Star Trek, even though they are powerful in-game would be a lot like dismissing mines or tractor beams because they weren't used (but a handful of times) in Star Trek. Regardless, Cryptic is spelling out what the Star Trek Universe is like in 2409, and it clearly involves carriers from both the Fed and KDF side.
The only reason they came up with carriers in the first place is that these ships are popular with the playerbase since every other sci-fi universe features them. I always thought that fightercraft in deep-space don't make much sense for Star Trek since their space combat is inspired by 18th century naval mechanics, cruiser based. Small underprotected fighters that face tractor beams, shields, 360 degree directed energy weapons capable of continious fire - it's just ridiculous.
Each and every ship in star Trek aside from small frigates should be able to deploy auxilliary craft, however. A Galaxy launching two Danube runabouts in combat would be alright, for example. Think of games like Starfleet Command where almost any ship could launch shuttles. Star Treks "shuttles" are not only transportation vessels but came a long way being multi-mission auxilliary craft even replacing planetary ground vehicles for combat completely. The infamous "Federation Fighter" in DS9 is a refitted civilian courier, inspired by the Maquis who used small civilian craft for a lack of larger vessels in their guerilla freedome fight.
Putting that aside and concentrating on STOs gameplay which does feature "carriers" however, I too would oppose a Fed full carrier. Let the sides keep some diversity from each other. If you want a carrier play KDF or ROM, you are free to do so (or the Atrox). I don't like this complete equality between the factions both in design and gameplay. Takes all the fun out of the game imo

He could rephrase it to: "no 10-console carrier".

Lieutenant Commander Tactical
Lieutenant Commander Science
Lieutenant Engineer

Naaaaah, that might be asking too much. Better to just take KDF concepts and paste them onto the Federation

It's a cruiser-carrier. Seems more suited to Starfleet. A lower turn rate would probably be appropriate, we are talking about a carrier, after all.
I can't remember which one, but either Geko or CBS said no to that a couple years ago.
Cruiser Carriers like the Orion Flight Deck Cruisers or the Romulans Scimatar only have one hangar to make up for having 8 weapon slots.
It is Catian carrier not Starfleet though.
