what confusion????? the only thing that pisses me off is the fact that rommies have no real carrier, also the galaxy has that huge shuttlebay in the saucer that holds over 50 shuttlecraft, yet it has not carrier ability :P and the real joke is the scimitars, they should be full fledged carriers, in nemises they had what 5 full squadrons of scorpion fighters in its bay, yet only one carrier slot in game????? really? at least let the roms have access to the voque, or the attrox.
also for players that actally PAID $$ for their ships its nice that we have access to the lower tier ships, just to get our traditional consoles and weapons. aceton assimilators, plasmonic leeches, photonic decoys, impulse thrusters, the toys that we all love to play with. its called options. you people dont like options? im actually pissed it stopped at the captain level ships
For later, subsequent player characters. If this was done, sure, your current toon will have that current Fed / KDF allied ship. But later toons will not.
So, your current character will have what they currently have. But later ones, no. But with my take on it, they can access the consoles still that come with the C-Store ship.
Anyways, I repeat again: No allied ship use for the Romulans at any point in the game anymore. You will have no confusion about players wondering why they can no longer have allied ships at endgame. You will also solidify the identity of the Romulan military.
This will also kill any possibility of T5 allied ship use for the Romulans. Because if the Romulans can use T5 allied ships, why can't the allies use Romulan ships? If that happens, there will be a sh*tstorm like you have never seen before. Then we're left wondering what is the difference between factions.
Romulans should be using Romulan warships.
Not KDF.
Not Starfleet.
Romulan.
If people cannot handle that basic fact that they signed up to serve in the Romulan military, they should check themselves back into the Klingon Empire or Federation.
Sounds like if you can't handle the fact that some people LIKE picking an allied ship to fly. But personally, having only 1 ship (not counting C-Store ships) per tier is extremely limiting, you can't tell me the KDF ever had to put up with anywhere near THAT limiting a selection.
Also, if the ability to fly a T1-4 allied ship is taken away, what is the point of picking an alliance side? Personally, I feel that that ability fits into the story reasoning of "pick a side, we'll help you!" Otherwise, what advantage does that whole thing provide to the player? None. (Sure it could provide an advantage diplomatically, but that's all behind the scenes stuff that would only involve a player peripherally, not directly)
And you keep claiming a Rom can fly a T5 allied ship. They cannot. They have to stick to WARBIRDS ONLY for endgame content, unless they choose to fly a T4 or lower ship for endgame.
So in conclusion, I think the system that way it is, until more content/ships are developed specifically for the Romulan's, that things are fine. When Cryptic chooses to provide more of that, I could see a lessening of those "privileges" such as, blocking T4, then T3, etc...as in terms of story, the Romulans are starting to "Stand on their own two feet", and need less assistance.
And if you don't like a Rom in a non-Rom ships, then you are free NOT to fly anything but warbirds. Personally, I did just that as I was levelling my eng Rom character. But I thought it would have been kind of interesting to stick her in a Fed Excelsior class ship!!!:D:D

There were 2 many reason Rom's could us allied ships.
1) Roms ships are limited till VA. Only one type of ship each tier. Which means only one way of playing it. By using the ships gives people a choice. For example i didn't like the DD, so i use my Sao Paulo class.
2)To give roms use of gear like consoles, quad cannons etc. Rom ship do focus on rom only stuff but if some wants to use Quad cannons (Disruptor, or Phaser) they can. If they did bring out new ships that would mean you need 2 as many ships, 1 for each fed and KDF till you hit Commander. THAT'S ALOT OF SHIPS. Around 26.
So 26 ships you never use but what you PAY FOR A CONSOLE YOU ALREADY HAD ON ANOTHER SHIP ON FED OR KDF.
As a proud Romulans i would not use any other Ships beside Romulan Ships, but i see no logic in preventing other players from doing so (we have seen one incident where the federation gave obsolete federation technology to drifting romulans, also:the bandwidth of romulan ships is somewhat ... limited) and i have no reason to try enforce MY playstyle onto other players.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
I have no problem with Romulans using their allies ships as I can visualize what happened to the Romulan fleet when their planet blew up. Makes sense to me there might be a shortage lol. Certainly don't see how this hurts the other two factions at all. Since the Romulans have to pick an alliance they aught to get something from that alliance!

I love options, and there is a great one, if you want to play with Fed or KDF Admiral ships, roll a Fed or KDF character!
