Don't think so, but what are you expecting?

A guide as in "pictures of the grown birds" or as in "what do I have to do"?

    For the latter:
    - Find an egg
    - Start the doff mission at the ornithologist at the hotel
    - collect your bird after 24h and admire it
    - choose your birds species at the ornithologist and let the bird be raised (watch doff traits)

That's all there is to it.

I'd love to see a guide with pictures of how the different species look like.

In the winter eppoh breeding misson the quality and type of doff affected the outcome of the quality of the animal. I just wondered if the same applied here. I dont think so I think its all random and potluck.

Oh well no harm in asking. :)

Yes you can crit for a tufted bird (like you could crit for an epohh with a bow on it last winter or crit for an evolved epohh on New Rom) but there's no way of controlling what sort of bird initially hatches. You take the bird you get, raise it through its life stages, hope it crits along the way so you can sell the tufted variety for more marks. Or find one you like enough to keep as a pet. There's nothing else to it. Just find a bunch of purple peaceful biologists and you're set.

Do most of these missions require a biologist for the 'success' rate?

Because if so, don't use them. You are actually losing crit success (which is what you are going for), because normal success overrides crit chance.

Since they are guaranteed to succeed, maxing out crit is your best bet. So while they will accept any science DOFF, using a biologist (if they affect normal success rate) isn't the best way to do it.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

In a Dev Blog there was a link to a picture showing all the different variations of the birds. http://images-cdn.perfectworld.com/www/1e/39/1e3967a4663343a5d2511928dc8e72171372232086.jpg Edit: it doesn't have any text so it doesn't say which bird is which.

Indeed, Biologists for Success. Don't use them.

Critical success traits are Seductive, Peaceful (possibly more, don't recall).

I'd love someone (more versed in the parrot raising, luckier,...) to associate those pictures with names. Also, are the lower 6 birds the tufted versions of the 6 above, respectively?

I take it the lowermost one isn't available for players and is only seen in the 'vista' places around the islands.

I got a Mutated Passion Wing Tufted using two green peacful scientists. So it does crit even with lowly green doffs.

I cant afford 1.7 mil for a purple.

Of course it can crit. I'm pretty sure there's still above 0% chance to crit it with even 2 common biologists, just not that much over 0%. With 2 non-biologist purples each with 1 crit trait I think I get about 35% crit, something like that.

EDIT: My bad, with only 1 crit purples (non biologists), it's just 23% crit.

The exchange, bewarned though, the prices for even simple green doffs with seductive and peaceful have gone through the roof if you can find one that is.

yeah but they have to get them from somewhere, exchange missions ? asylum missions ? or just doff packs.

A Doff database would be nice sortable by name / abilities which provide possible locations

The eggs can come randomly from any of the horga'hn spots during the hunt. The birds you see on the map don't have anything to do raising birds. Random ones will fly around, and the ones sitting on poles are for the viewpoint accolade. But eggs are the only way to get birds.

I've compiled some more information from the community here, including what the different birds look like as they grow and mutate.
Take a look at my Foundry missions!

The Purple-level Geologist Doffs all have Peaceful + Seductive traits. Better grind those LOL WUTs during Hodor Hunt and save up.

Like Winter epohhs, a crit result in a mutation of pet, better doffs = better chance to crit.

MAter Relaxer Accolade can be found in your list of accolades (tab under same place as episodes, foundry, event and missions, tab is to the right, sometime off the front of that screen). You complete it by getting all the Risa accolades, which are listed under its entry in accolades.

I do that. I use blue or purple doffs with the seductive/peaceful traits and get about a 30% mutation rate

Like all No-Fail doff missions, do NOT use the professional the mission wants. It just sucks the % out of Critical Success. Pick doffs w/ the critical success traits. That is all you need.

Sadly, Cryptic has some stupid equation that penalizes you for picking the 'correct' professional doff in the No-fail missions.

What I'm wondering is if there's some hidden mechanic that determines what bird hatches from an egg. One my Fed Sci I only need a tufted Dusk Diver to have the whole set but I keep getting Seasprays and Passion Wings, while my KDF Sci keeps getting Dusk Divers and Firesprays.

Hopefully Cryptic will fix that during the July 17th Shard Maintenance.... Of course that takes place after the entire event is over....

Sigh ... Again someone using that outdated picture as a "reference" ... It does include SOME of the colours available in the 2014 SE, but it's woefully inaccurate for most of the variants available now ...

Also the Large Bird pictured at the bottom of that image is actually the "Lookout" Bird, which can't be obtained by the player ... I think there issome accolade if you find them all and 'Admire the View" or something.

Just to note, the Tufted colors on that chart are only for Adult Tufted birds. Tufted Fledgling and Seniors use a different color scheme that's only slightly different from the normal variety, usually just a bit brighter or with one color changed.
