Looking at the wiki it seems that some of the stats may be off for 'end game' gear. Currently I'm in quest reward gear(IE: breen, jemhadar, etc) in both ground and space.
I've got two characters that recently hit max rep with romulan and omega(and a few days from nakura). I've got nothing unlocked and have no idea on the path to go.
Looking for input on gear and mark sets for a tac/tac and a sci in a sci(and occasionaly a mirror escort)[sci uses a lot of grav well/tyken/confuse etc].
Broad question but looking for opinions -- thanks in advance.
the deflector gives nice sci bonuses (tho if I remember right for sci, the omega force gives better stats, but the set bonus is bad), the engine is decent (if you are new, and not in a fleet with lots of transwarp options, you are going to like the higher warp speed). and ofc the set bonus. basically gives you loads of healing quite useful
the shield is less obvious for some. it not only gives you 20% plasma dmg resist, but also 10% to everythign else. also it has rly high numbers, which do matter (the regen rate does not matter, your shields will be healed by your skills).
also it has a chance of applying plus power to your subsystems, which is nice, again
this is pretty much the basic setup, ofc if you are going to specialize into something, that would require an other set (torp boat, with the advanced maco for example), that is doable, but as you have said, that you did not unlock anything, I would go for these, as these are pretty much the default for most builds
as for ground. maco or omega. maco is probably more liked, with the rifle, but as I am a sci, I prefer the set bonuses of the omega, plus it looks kinda better. I would say, first unlock the maco, you are better off with it
Borg engine and deflector are good choices. Unless you plan to use the borg shields at some point (such as a shield regen build for pve), Mk X or XI will do for the borg. The set costs way more for Mk XII with very little benefit. For the shields, maco is good, but the maco shields have issues with the Plasmonic Leech console. Leech can significantly increase your power levels and is a very powerful console you can get on the exchange, but the power proc on the maco shields does not stack and will actually override the leech. Supposedly this is working as intended. I would go with the Adapted Maco shields, which is the fed version of the Honor Guard set. The accuracy Debuff on the adaped shields makes it roughly equivalent to maco. Get Mk XII for shields. From there you can try out other things, but 2 piece borg plus maco or adapted maco shields is pretty much a standard.

did not do my research on the leech and maco together. any topic with seemingly correct numbers on the forums?
Here's how I roll a science based setup on comparison with kdf toons in the regards to the leech.
Raptor is close to what a regular defiant is without getting into fleet ship issues. I use polarized disruptors 3 DHC's and torp/or DBB front and 3 turrets rear. Then apply the leech with maco deflector and shield with an adapted maco engine. Then if you are using a ship that you can comfortably put an energy siphon or 2 on it will bolster it some more and mix it up with a warp core doff to increase power settings too. You can easily do this on a multi vector though. It would just look more canon if they would come out with a polarized phaser for feds to make it look canon and get the same feel.
Another way to do it is put a DHC, DC, torp, and DBB front I have an alt sci who runs that configuration works pretty well with all those different firing rates you don't need to double up so much on skills like rapid fire it does decent enough without it. As for the set up above thats going to maximize your power levels and shields/hull capability as well as shield damage resist.
If You intend to do Ground STFs as well, then I'd propose getting a MACO MK X set as soon as You can - if only for the Integral Frequency Remodulator. Once You reach Tier 5, You might want to get the MACO MK XII set - after which You should be able to get the Adapted MACO MK XII set (the Federation version of the Klingon Honor Guard set). At least the weapon is well worth it - especially when combined with a Split Beam Rifle that is neither Phaser nor Disruptor. I personally went for the complete Ad. MACO set.
Get both the Physician (Healer) and the Physics MK X Kits. The former one to help Your team or tank Yourself - the latter one in combination with two rare/very rare DOff-Geologists with the "Create Phasic Instability" skill and one "normal" Geologist for a reduced cooldown to enjoy the love of any Grenade hurler or Mine/Bomb layer in Your team.
As for Space - I still prefer the Borg Deflector/Engine with the Res. MACO shields.

with engines nothing but what you pay exactly goes into what you want, the set bonus.
but for a first purchase, mk xi should do fine for quite a long time, until you start to want every little bonus you can get
