How is joining a non-invite only channel, like PublicEliteSTF going to not have me group with pugs? It's still a pug, by definition. These are not people I know, jsut because they typed /join channel, they are now not griefers, leechers, spmammers, afkers, etc?

And as far as invite only goes, well, I guess mine's in the mail.

You said it isn't an option, I was just saying that it absolutely is an option... just an option you choose not to explore... and thats fine.

Personally, I have had very few bad teams from any public channel (PublicEliteSTF, Accolades, FleetEvent). The griefers, leechers, and trolls get ignored (not invited to future teams), and game play improves.

Fact is the leecher would avoid channels... they would quickly earn themselves prominent spots on everyone's ignore list. Thereby making it unprofitable for them to use the channels.

Star Trek Online, Now with out the Trek....

it would be great if the system took account for people being on your ignore list while setting up the teams..

nobody on your ignore list should be placed in a team with you..

I'm going to start advertising a "Leechers-Only" channel, so that leechers can team together and not accomplish anything with like-minded individuals.

But I see that its a difficult problem to fix-

    1. Mandate a % of damage done to get credit? What about tank/healer builds that don't focus on damage? Put a too high requirement, and you shut these players out, too low, and they'll just shoot at a cube for ten seconds then fly off to watch Youtube or whatever they do.

    2. They aren't "technically" AFK, they must move back and forth every so often to not get automatically kicked out. So they would need to highly increase the time delay to kick, but what about some escorts that park at 9.9 km from a gate and autofire until its gone? Surely they shouldn't get booted, they *are* contributing, even if they are immobile for 20-30 seconds.

    3. Any sort of votekick system, even if perfect on paper will result in some players being kicked without good reason. Imagine a 4-person team consistently kicking people until they get a science captain, or something.

I agree that using player-made channels is a good alternative, it uses the hivemind to control the system... be a leecher, get ignored... currently in the regular queues there are no disadvantages with being a leecher, really. Sure, you may not be in range of some drops, but everyone's there for the dil/marks/BNP's, etc, not Minor Components.

i could go for something like this more then a vote to kick but i would like for the ignore cap to be removed just in case i hit that cap with nothing but leechers on it

The ignore list works well in those elite channels. If you got someone on ignore, you can't invite them to your games :D
