I don't want a grammar/spelling/whatever discussion.
My only motivation is I'm unhappy with all those super clever guys nicking ships. There is no point in it ! Every somewhat competent group will reach the maximum possible amount of xyz marks.
Just shoot the bloody spiders and get at least some loot for your effort. And yes, this is the Klingon approach. And no, I won't tag fluffy space bunnies instead.

Because of the luck factor, this not true. I have personally been in a group that had nothing but Birds-of-Prey spawn. I think we got 14 total points. The respawn timer eats up a lot more time than people realize.
Did you read the link? While it is a 'word' in the sense that it exists and people are aware of it, it should not be used. That point stands.
From the link:
It is A) Nonstandard, and It is still used primarily in speech... Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.
Excuse me, but as the Oxford English and Cambridge dictionaries both have the word in (UK and US versions), who do you think you are with your bold and underline giving orders???
It is in the dictionary, hence, it is a valid word to be used, no matter if it is a "standard" word or not.
The Oxford dictionary (US version) does go on to point out the grammatical flaw in the word and points out that the word means the same as regardless.
Back on topic - Why do people feel the need to kill the spawn before letting the ship out?? When I am in my D'D I am set for threat + tank, so I can keep them busy while someone else frees the ships - that was kind of the point to my config.

You still need to get them out of range as they spam 'fire at will' and hit the player trying to free the ship.
Use whatever method you prefer, I prefer to make the Tholians pay for kidnapping ships, even if it takes longer.
Regardless is the proper word, but people will say what they want irregardless.

Just as a clarification - It was not me giving those orders. As I said, it was from the link, to the dictionary. The dictionary gave those orders I just bolded them for emphasis
Secondly, I find the 'nicking' of the ships to be slightly more challenging that just blasting in and shooting things. Having to run AN and Vault over and over to get Nukara marks, anything that breaks up the monotony and increases the subtlety and tactics of any given situation are welcome respites from the grind. So nicking those ships without the pew pew, for me, is more fun, and as a bonus, more efficient.

How the hell can you people manage to find 4 pages of arguments out of this stupid mission. It's the simplest, most mind-numbing thing in the game, there cannot conceivably be a 'better' way of doing it.
As for the grammar TRIBBLE's invading this little Poland of a thread, here's a word for you to ponder, Pedantry.
Azure Rescue would be better if the capture points were much closer together, and constantly full of ships. And maybe add in roving tholians to prevent people from too easily freeing ships without fighting.
Then adjust the marks per point to balance it out.

I prefer this method with my D'D, I did forget to point out in my prior post, I use a console to throw a singularity at the Tholians to drag them away from the ship so others can free it while I keep the baddies busy - shame it is on such a long timer as the explosion at the end of it does not really hurt, so it could be a bit faster like the AA console.
I'm not sure what happened but I was fighting a group by a mogai, or dhelan now or whatever it is. Just plinking away in my cruiser with full hull and shields, when suddenly bam. I took a 90k crit to hull and dead in one shot. I was embarrassed that I died in there but at the same time wtf?
My friend said the same happened to him the day before. Anyone else had this? I admit Ihave not seen it happen to anyone else though.
The faster a spawn dies and a ship is rescued the sooner it can respawn, so ideally you want to be in place ready to fire as soon as they respawn. This requires most people in the group to be somewhat competent and be able to solo spawns quickly or at least be able to fight long enough so the 1 extra person shouldn't have much help to do by the time he gets there. Tacs especially should never need help even on the scimitar spawn, and should never expect it either, I sure won't ever help a lone tac or a spawn with 2 people already there. I will wait at another spawn instead.
Sadly I almost never see pugs able to do this, they all think you need 3 or 4 people at every spawn, even a bird of prey spawn, so they spend more time flying around at full impulse and waiting for weapons to charge back up then actually scoring points.

Which is the lost twin brother to Azure Nebula ... in terms of boredom .

same can be said for dilithium mining, once you pass 735 you get capped at 200 (300) during mining special event
as for VIP customer they might has well let us trade in a vip pass for 5000 Dil
Then adjust the marks per point to balance it out.

LOL, true and funny at the same time
Fair enough, sorry for the over react.

ohh, nice word. Do you play scrabble? or are you an avid follower of Countdown?
Personally, i think it would be more enjoyable with more asteroids. Just the four is a bit dull
