Since they shut done the thread concerning the giveaway, and i can understand why. However I received no answer from cryptic or Towelliee on the topic, ill ask again here.
As one of what it seems is the many people who won but were disqualified by not following his channel, i would like an official response. The following his channel requirement was at no time clearly posted anywhere, i never even heard of that requirement until after i was disqualified from winning when my name was drawn. Ive submitted tickets to cryptic and to twitch to find out if it was required by design or if towelliee implemented this requirement on his own just to raise his number of followers, But by not clearly displaying this requirement, screwed numerous people out of what should of been their prize.
It is my desire to not only attempt to bring satisfaction to those who were unjustly disqualified but to try and ensure that any future giveaways are not marred by unclear requirements.
sadly, since it was towelliee who got to pick who won, its completely his choice that the person who won was following him.\
its not an uncommon twitch practice to give out prizes only to your followers. there are few who dont have such requirements, but since he was handing them out he could add that rule on his own.
cryptic nor twitch can do anything about a personal contest one of twitches users runs.
I am sorry you did not get your prize, that is not good. You really weren't told of that caveat in advance? Can anyone confirm that? Perhaps it was merely missed detail? Seems like very poor form to me.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.
Sorry to hear about the confusion regarding the giveaway eligibility requirements. These are decided on by the streamer giving away the prizes, and are typically announced at the start of the stream. We apologize that this was not made clearer by the streamer and we will definitely take this feedback into consideration as we move forward so we can avoid similar confusion with future giveaways. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for the continued feedback.
I can confirm there was no mention of such requirement during the stream. The only thing the guy said was that you have to type in the keyword and that "only people who are interested will be participating" or something along those lines. Nothing about following the channel.
I recall some people were picked by the system, but I couldn't make out why they weren't the winners - at the time I thought they were offline or something, thus the red background and re-roll. Now it would seem this was all about whether a person followed the guy's channel or not.
I understand that Cryptic isn't to blame here, at least not entirely, but from the promotional standpoint this could be considered a fail...
Sorry to hear about your loss drachenhaut01. Another time perhaps.
I was on the stream as well to try to win and do confirm there was never mention of following his channel. He only said type the key word and reply in channel to him if you were picked... I did not 'follow' his channel, so I would have probably lost if drawn and not knowing about it...
If this was not stated, it cannot be set retroactively after a name was drawn... I hope twitch, which host his stream, will slap him on the fingers... this is not fair in such case...
I never heard the requirement, and if many of you also state you never heard it, that makes it even worse. It stings more by the fact that noone will do anything to correct the issue.
If your wondering i got screwed out of the legacy pack, the starter kit i could of lived with but he basically took 200 bucks out of my pocket and he nor cryptic feels any need to fix that.
I had originally planned on buy it myself if i didnt win, but however after this, i refuse to spend the money on something that was basically taken from me. I will continue to play, because i love the game, but if cryptics basically saying sucks to be you, you should of known even if noone told you, then i think ive spent my last real dollar.
After tweeting with Branflakes, Ive gotten nowhere. It seems cryptic takes no responsibility for the contests they arrange. They promote it, provide the prizes but say its up to the party holding the contest to decide how to give away the prizes. So technically a contest doesn't even need to be held. The party with the stream could infact just give away all the prizes to their friends. Now Branflakes states that "we hope they don't do that, but there should have been better communication on that requirement if they were going to make it" However since the prizes were only given out to his followers and he never mentioned that, He basically did exactly that, he gave them out to his friends in the guise of a contest.
Ive been following this game since before Cryptic took over, bought a lifetime the first week they were offered. Ive been through every tribble trial. I own the digital, the deluxe and the collectors editions. Ive been loyal through f2p and our year long drought. This has to be the worst example of customer service ive ever seen. For a company to just say sorry you were screwed but well try to fix it for the next guy.
Thanks Cryptic for looking after your player base, your an inspiration to all.
You must mean Perpetual's never launched STO then, because this version of STO has been build by Cryptic from the ground up after they acquired the licenses from Perpetual.
Unless off course you mean publisher, which would be Atari and now PWE.

I doubt Cryptic themselves can really do anything about it though.
