to go monthly?

I am currently F2P and was thinking about going monthly payments. What perks do I get for it or is there somewhere that tells me?

Reason I am asking is I noticed the ships cost everything but normal credits and I wanted to know if I am missing out on that stuff because of F2P.

Energy credits are only used on vendors and the Exchange, and in some Doff projects.

Ships cost either Zen, Dilithium or - in the case of Fleet ships - Fleet Credits and Fleet Modules. You can also buy ships off the exchange for energy credits, but they will be expensive. Like, tens of millions and upwards expensive, as these ships are very rare and not available for general purchase - the Galor-class Cardassian cruiser, for example.

Zen can be bought using real money, or by Converting dilithium. Dilithium can be earned in-game. Fleet modules can be bought with Zen and Fleet Credits are earned my contributing to a fleet.

Only one ship is unavailable to F2P players - the Chimera/Peghqu' Destroyer for 1000 Day Sub/LTS holders.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

Sub for a month and level up your characters to 50 during that month. The only thing that really is needed is the Energy Credit cap increase from the C-Store. Subscriptions suck in STO compared to other Freemium MMOs. The game wants you to play for free compared to MMOs like SWTOR where it gives such a poor F2P experience that it is trying to force you to subscribe.

If ships are your main concern, you can get most of the Mirror Universe ones for relatively cheap prices (20-50k) on the exchange. Equivalent to the Rear Admiral vendor ones that cost 200k Dilithium. Which is crazy. In Zen terms that's like 1500-2000 Zen for a ship w/o any special perks. Cryptic really needs to make those things less expensive.

Consensus seems to be to go Gold for 1 month, unlock the perks (inventory, respecs, free RA ship, etc), then got back to F2P.
