I was away from the game for about 6 months
last time I was active it was around the time Nukara was added

when romulans were introduced I returned to the game eager to play new stuff
between other stuff, I discovered that all [Borg] space weapons cannot be obtained anymore and the rest of the sets were tied to reputation systems

I tried to get along with this, I reached tier 3 in Omega Force but it's like I'm pouring water into a bottomless pit and I still hope that some day it will fill - fool's errand
found a tool that calculated the fastest way to reach tier 5, and the fastest way would be somewhere around 3 weeks of completing projects back to back without interruption

am I playing STO to have fun or .. because this looks like a 2nd job

I decided that I cannot continue this
so, unless Cryptic decides to take a 2nd look and and rethink the reputation system I have absolutely no intention of returning

Nobody is saying you have to complete the rep tiers, although some of the skills are very nice to have. A lower mk set will have the same bonuses with only slightly lower benefits and work just fine in PVE for almost everything. Some gear is even better from fleet store or exchange if you have the EC.

the fleet store is based on the same projects type and tiers
more, the fleet stores need provisioned constantly to fill the needs of the entire fleet

keep in mind that before this dreadfull system, I only had to go to the NPC on DS9 and exchange an item for a piece of the set or for a weapon

the BORG Uni console could be obtained by doing a mission .. not anymore

now I have to put in large chunks of dilithium, EC in form of commodities, marks and Xp
the new system is designed to force you to grind

well, I refuse
