The Crystalline Entity: Observations.

1. Allow one person to get and hold the agro of the large shards, and lead them away from the Entity. Do not destroy those shards, and the Entity will not spawn new ones.

2. If there is not a designated leash in step one, then the team will need several Gravity Wells / Singularities to bottle up the Shards at the Entity.

3. Bring Kinetic damage torpedoes, super high shields 13K+, and high regeneration rates, to tank the Entity blast ray.

4. Energy weapons are not very effective, mines are okay, but not worth the effort, use more torpedoes.

5. Set Torpedoes on the front and back with high yield and volley shots, so you can turn your shields, keep moving, and keep firing torpedoes.

6. Do not allow Large Shards to run into you, run away!

7. Small shards returning to the Entity give it an unlimited stackable damage buff.

8. When the crystal starts to absorb energy, move to +10km or you will get one shotted.

If you have any other useful information to add to the CE encounter, please reply.

    7. Small shards returning to the Entity give it an unlimited stackable damage buff.

Which can be removed by using Tachyon Beam on it.

Not true. If it's Normal CE, a timely use of Brace For Impact, AuxToHull and EptS will usually leave you alive. Alternatively, on Elite, you can get right up in the CE itself. If you're practically in the middle of the CE, you should emerge unscathed.

The stacking buff can be stripped easily. Tachyon beam, tyken's rift, energy siphon, charged particle burst. I've been told subnucleonic beam does it as well, but it's not listed in the briefing.

It only takes 2-3 people with one or two of these powers to keep the entity at 0 stacks, even if things are going quite badly. If they're not going too bad, I've done it alone with one tachyon beam, sometimes two (but in an escort I doom myself to unnecessary deaths doing this). Honestly, groups have to be going really, REALLY bad before its gotten to the point that I can't keep up with two beams and no help.

Subnucleonic Beam has never worked for me.

Thanks. I never thought so, but it gets said a lot and I haven't tested myself, so I mentioned it hoping somebody could correct or confirm it.

Yeah, it's a bit ****. All of the powers that do debuff the CE are not actually debuff powers. Yet the one power that is a debuff power, does not.

Somewhere, some Cryptic employee thinks he's the bees knees. And yet, had it been the other way round and Subnuc Beam been the only way to debuff the CE, wouldn't it be nice for science players to be in-demand?
