Question: Have The Borg Been Nerfed Too Much?

roman1229roman1229 Member Posts: 185 Arc User
I ask this question because, even though it is 40 years later in STO, it seems to me that the Borg are truly no threat anymore. If t doesn't take anything to destroy a cube or other Borg ships, everyone in the quadrant is stealing technology from them and adapting it to their own ships and weaponry. Just asking what anyone else thought.

    i agree

they are like the least threatening enemy or somethng

but i would like to fly a sphere tho

maybe have it so you can like capture a sphere and fly it in pvp

but like both the enemy and your team shoot at you or somethng

The Borg are Star Trek's zombies, once you learn how to beat them up they're not much of a threat.

Maybe the Borg in STO are too weak- I've advocated a 20-player fleet action vs. one "realistic" Borg Cube (like a Borg CE)- but a more definite problem is that players are too strong.

In Star Trek a Miranda vs. a Negh'var would be a very short fight. In STO it's the end of half the Klingon front missions.

I'm guessing you don't play Elite STFs then? The new EptE ability that Borg Spheres and Raptors have acquired is extremely irritating, and without due care the Spheres can easily cost you the optional in ISE by running away all the time.

No. Playable Borg ships is the single worst idea. Given that they're apparently too weak, the sure-fire way to ruin whatever threatening persona they have will be when Sol is full of Spheres with stupid names.

I'd MUCH rather see STF's involving the Elachi or, heavens forbid, the Iconians.

I'd say players have become too strong compared to them.

Any new stfs that come out (fingers crossed) should have enemies that test us as players again.
    Well I can't forget a face but I won't remember y'all.

That was Hive space elite, before the tac/scort pilots demanded it be nerfed to the standard DPS-fest the others are

The problem is, the way that the Borg beat you is with one shots. So, we ask for a nerf on them to actually have a chance at beating them.

Then everything else about them is weak, but we still get one shotted.:eek:
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I think there hull needs to be buffed (for cubes) but then weapon dmg goes down to compensate.
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

40 years of difference as you said, plus the fact the borg took a major setback due to janeway.

it allowed the alpha quadrant to "catch up" a bit

plus they're still tough, no other enemy can blow you up with ghost torps lol.

also seriously the borg are overly used, if it was up to me, the borg would be defeated once and for all, and the main threat would be the iconians.

at least other threats have more story to them, the borg are only "Hurr, we'll assimilate you, durr" the end.
