This has been discussed to death pretty much before.
and if you can give me 1000 USD then a new shiny Jem Hadar ship is all yours.
    Grinding for MkIV epic gear?

to be honest this was a dumb move on their part and it just screams greedy..

to have to purchase a ship you arent speced in, will probably never fly, and also costs close to 400m on the exchange because you cant get it any other way just to get to PURCHASE hangers in a class that every other carrier gets access to by default is dumb..

we should have access to frigates.. if its not JHAS then they need to come up with different ones.

How does the JHAS being rare make cryptic more money? They don't get a cut of the auction house.

How does it make them money? Because when they have those re-releases people spend BIG time. People buy those fleet reinforcement packs (or whatever they are) like there's no tomorrow. That's where they make their money. I works, too. Ever see how many JHAS drop during those re-releases?

I linked my JHAS and JHDC to the same toon and I found that the adjustments I had to make to my toon's stats were so very minimal that it didn't noticeably impinge on the performance of either ship. I mean reducing Weapon Performance from 9 to 8 results in a 0.5 drop in actual weapon subsystem power but an increase 54 in Flow Capacitors. Such tiny variations won't make you lose in a PvP match.

As a matter fact I tend to spec my toons in such a way that they can fly multiple ships without any noticeable drop in performance. I currently have 9 toons, each with 3 PvP capable ships. Granted I'm not a PvP master (nor will I ever be owing to my stubborn refusal to abandon builds that are not as effective as they are fun to play) but I hold my own and generally kill more than I die. I play for fun, not for min/maxing.

Sure, losing one point here or there is not the end of the world and sure you can save a lot of point if you do not max out and specialise but when you have so many different multiplicative bonuses they actually pan out to be significant numbers in the end.

The point is you are inferior in any ship you fly if you do not have the spec that maximises the potential of your ship and this game is inflexible when it comes to moving between specs so it is easier to have a different character specialise in different roles. Given it only takes a few days to level up a character it isn't worth the zen to keep re-speccing a single character so i have my tac, eng and sci characters of different factions and I have ones that fly escorts, cruisers, carriers, warbirds, etc. I have had no issue buying multiple Galors for my characters because I am not just buying them for the spiral waves, the Galor itself is probably the best cruiser in the game although it is ugly as sin.

Granted the content in this game doesn't require you to max out, in fact, I have a character that doesn't hit the red zone in any skill and there isn't any content he can't do, but it isn't really the point, if I wanted to suck and still get through content I would fly a Galaxy Cruiser.

An area I would be very happy for Cryptic to go to town on for profiteering is for visual addons, I think they have a lot of scope to add more options for pretty much everything to look a whole lot better for a price, but in terms of game functionality they should strive to not make it PTW as much as humanly possible.

I disagree it's a beautiful ship, Cardassian ships have a quality about them that sausage and pancake um I mean Federation ships will never have. ;)

And by the way I kind of disagree about it being the best cruiser, There are a few KDF cruisers that I think surpass it, but that's just my opinion. :P
