Looking for a healthy fleet

Hello,

I'm a longtime STO player, and a lifetime subscriber. I've never joined a fleet, but I'd like to. I'm looking for a healthy fleet that has a good player base and does a variety of things like PvE and PvP together. I'm a frequent player of Elite STFs and am decently skilled at them.

I'm a pretty active player, although I do have real world responsibilities so there will be periods of time when I am inactive (sometimes for a month or more). I have well over 1000 hours into this game, so that should give you some idea of my play frequency.

Additionally, my fiance (soon to be wife), and several other friends play this game and are also fleetless, so they'll likely join whatever fleet I join.

A fleet that has Romulan and Klingon branches would also be nice.

I'm tired of playing the game in isolation, so if you think I'd fit into your fleet, please feel free to respond to this thread with some details. My main's IGN is Martin@admiralah1

    Greetings from The Mak'Tar!

We offer a variety of events and also have many members who have family & friends playing (I myself also have my wife in the fleet). We accept Romulans and do have a KDF fleet as well. We are based off the movie Galaxy Quest which is a Star Trek parody and a highly recommended film to watch.

We're a very laid back fleet that looks to offer a mature and relaxed environment with no drama for all our members. Communication is one of our biggest policies and we offer an open door policy to all members, so if you have a problem, suggestion or an idea to help the fleet improve in any aspect we are here to listen and help.

We run regular events for all our members with prizes to be won and have no strict requirements to log on so many hours per week. If you need to take a break we have a Risa Shore Leave thread which you can post in and we'll add you to the "Risa Shore Leave" group until you want to come back.

We have members across the US, Canada, UK and the rest of Europe ranging from 18 to 50 years old. We also offer many fleet roles in the fleet if there is anything to your liking that you would like to take part in. Working together as a family/team is a big priority for us and of course having fun and a laugh in game/on Mumble!

Feel free to have a look at our website as there is more information there and hopefully you might find it's the place for you. We also offer a voice server on Mumble which we highly encourage and use for Fleet Events, STFs and just general hanging out. Our website registration is mandatory as it's our main portal for communication.

Any questions, feel free to PM me.

    Never give up, never surrender!

    Fleet Admiral Nierion

I can only speak for my own, 'Shadow Fleet', which actually consists of 4 fleets(shadow force, shadow empire and the reserve versions of each) which is last I checked one of the top 10 fleets in sto activity/star base progression wise. Hit us up...we are everywhere.

If you guys are over 30 years old and looking for a relaxed fleet then you should at least check-out the TOS Veterans Fleet. We are a medium sized fleet spread out over two continents and we are a lot of fun.

We are made up of newbies and serious gamers and all we have in common is that we are becoming middle aged, we love everything Star Trek and we want to hang with same minded people.

We have no rules, nothing is mandatory and no bosses.

Check out our recruiting forum for more information or visit our website at TOSFLEET.COM.

We also have a very active Klingon fleet called the TOS Qan Mang.

We are not presently recruiting but if you guys are a good fit we will make exceptions.

    Greetings,

12th Fleet is a casual fleet where the main focus is members having fun while keeping in mind that everyone has a busy life.

Pretty much everyone in the fleet is mature, we have people from army background, ex military, working background, couples and the community itself consists of people from various backgrounds.

We have total of 3 fleets: the 12th Fleet (Fed) - our main fleet, 12th Reserve Fleet (Fed for alt characters) and 12th Honor Guard (Sister fleet on KDF side). As far as fleet progression is considered we are just a month away from our main fleet reaching T5 shipyards!

If you have to go away it's not a problem, all you have to do is inform your squad captain or XO. Our activity requirements are just logging into the forums and game once a month other than that either way!

If you are interested, you may look over at our forums at www.12th-fleet.com and our recruitment section is here: http://forums.12th-fleet.com/viewforum.php?f=15

You can also check out our fleet threads:

    12th Fleet [Fed Main]
    12th Honor Guard [KDF Division]
    12th Legion [Romulan Division]

Cheers and have a nice day!

I'd like to add Liberty Task Force to your list of choices if you haven't already chosen a fleet. We are relatively new but already more active than some fleets that have been around for two years. We have reached Tier II Starbase in 35 days of being established. We are casual and friendly players with a fair ranking system. We have a website www.libertytaskforce.com and also use TeamSpeak 3. We have new and veteran players in the fleet and everyone has a voice.

We do PvE, PvP, and starting some light RP. If you need any more info feel free to visit our website or contact me directly at Info@LibertyTaskForce.com. There are no roll calls or hoops to jump over. Give us a try we'd love to have you and your friends join us. Also feel free to friend me in-game anytime at Grayfox@GrayfoxJames. Thanks for your time and we hope you choose Liberty Task Force...you won't be just a number to us.

Good morning. I hope you will take a moment and consider the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet. We are a small but great fleet. We are easy going, dedicated and friendly. We all come from different backgrounds and have different ways of doing things, but that?s part of what makes us great.

Anyone in our fleet is happy to help others when needed, in almost any aspect of the game and in some cases RL. We have a fleet TeamSpeak3 server that we use for voice chat not just in-game but also to hang out as well and get to know each other better (not required, just available). Many of us are located on the East Coast and Midwest (USA), Canada, England and we recently re-established our Australian branch. :D

Although I say our fleet is dedicated, we also realize that everyone has lives as well, so when you need to take the time, you don't need to be concerned about losing your position within the fleet due to RL too. We do not discriminate against such things because we understand that sometimes real life issues and problems can take time to resolve, and that some time is needed to sort things out.

So please, think about joining and moving with us into 2410 armed with the best Intel, the most specific and targeted body of knowledge about STO, and a group of Fleet-mates who will be there with you in the crunch. Our Starbase is nearing the Tier 4 jump off point and we have started making inroads into advancing towards a Tier 3 Embassy. We also provide commodities to all for donation to the projects.

    The Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet

    Live Long and Prosper!

If you would like additional information on the [VKF] please don?t hesitate to contact me or any of our members.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I promise that I will take time to review and consider every recruitment offer posted here. I will be away until next Monday on one of those trips I mentioned, but I will have sporadic forum access. I won't be making a decision until at least then, so keep the pitches coming.

    Some additional information:
I am much more active than my future wife by far. Also, we are both 25.

My fiance and I are both Trekkies from birth. I am also the founder and former leader of Blade and Rose, a large and prestigious multi-game guild that is most prominent in Guild Wars 1 and 2, but does not have enough players in STO to have its own fleet (thus my reason for looking)--so I know what it means to be a good member and in leadership. If you play those games, you may have heard of me--Quintus Antonius, I have an NPC named after me in Guild Wars 1 in the Halls of Chokin (Master Librarian Antohneoss).

I offer that anecdote not to brag, but to give you a sense of my maturity and commitment as a player/guild member.

Thank you for your interest in me. Like I said, I promise to consider each of your offers carefully and fairly.

Thanks for getting back to everyone!

I know you said to keep the pitches coming, so just to give you a little more info on ourselves.

We formed approximately a year ago. Myself and the founding members had a wide range of gaming experience and decided to start this fleet together. We chose Galaxy Quest as our theme to show everyone we're not a super serious fleet, but we aim to provide a mature environment where everyone can relax and have fun without any stress or drama.

We are currently in the process of trying to grow our officer core to help provide this experience and also find members who share a similar vision to ourselves. We encourage all our members to take part on the forums, in fleet events and to join us on Mumble. Our goal is to bring people together and have some fun. Over the last year many friendships & bonds have been formed.

Many of our members also have a similar background to yourself and myself included. I can't say that our approach is completely unique to any other fleet, as I am aware of fleets that share similar visions, of who I am friends with. However we can offer a fun experience and one of the unique aspects I can think of is that Galaxy Quest is our inspiration (Recommend watching it if you haven't lol).

We have regular meetings with the core officers and communication / honesty is a key aspect to making this fleet run smoothly. We always make sure every person in our fleet is comfortable with their position and when anyone needs to take a break, they can take one.

Like I said previously, we have many people with friends & family in the fleet. It brings us closer together and makes this experience so much fun, especially when hanging out on Mumble. Our members are 18-50 years old and most are around the middle bracket (Myself & my wife being in mid to late 20's)

There is plenty of information on the website ( www.themaktar.enjin.com ) and you can check out our recruitment thread here. Take your time, look around and if you have any questions you can message me on the site or in game @phurbu

You've got some great offers here and whatever decision you make, The Mak'Tar wish you the very best!

    And remember..........

Never give up..... and never surrender!

May I ask you a question regarding your theme? There isn't much information on the site regarding the depth of this theme. In other words, are we talking theme as in inspiration, theme as in organization, or theme as in roleplaying. The three can all be a "theme" but have radically different levels of engagement. I'd appreciate some clarification, or if it is explained on your site (which is nice by the way!) a link would also suffice.

The theme is more of an inspiration and our approach to the kind of fun atmosphere we try to keep on the site, in game and on Mumble. It mentions that on www.themaktar.enjin.com in the beginning of fleet info (We don't do RP, but whenever there is a demand for something, we're always happy to accomodate). :)

The film is a parody of Star Trek. A bunch of actors who play characters on a Sci-fi TV show that end up being dragged into an alien conflict and have to resolve their differences and pull together. So essentially we've got all the fun, excitement and laughs of a laid back family fleet, with close friendships that have developed over time and we always pull together with a structured fleet that tries to keep it as open as possible. And being open & honest with all my members was one of the most important aspects. Anything that gets discussed in our officer meetings which affects the fleet, goes into meeting notes which all members can read and of course encourage all members to bring suggestions/ideas that may help us grow.

But yeah, definitely have a read through the main page and Code of the Mak'Tar. Hope that helps :)

oh, and congratulations on your engagement. :)

Latinumber, if you are still checking this thread, I'd like to follow up with you and ask a few questions about your fleet.

First, nice site, I was very impressed with the professionalism and layout you are displaying.

    Now, for some questions.

    1) How many members are currently in your fleet? I saw the roster, but counting it all up would take a while.
    2) You mentioned you have a Klingon fleet--do you also now have a Romulan one?
    3) Can you tell me more about each of the divisions of your fleet? (Scientific, Command, Tactical)

That's all for now. Thank you!

That's all for now. Thank you!

    1) If you look at the in-game roster, we have around 470 'members' on the Fed side. But these include alts. We also do our best not to kick anyone for inactivity. That said, since we are approaching the max limit of 500, we have recently been letting go of those that have not logged into STO in over a year. Number of players online varies by time of day, anywhere from 5 in dead of the night, to over 30 (split between fed and kdf side).

    2) Romulans have joined either our Fed or KDF fleet once they pick an allegiance. Though you CAN form a romulan fleet in game, there is no access to any fleet gear or starbase map. So we have decided NOT to form a 'Romulan-only' fleet, but have instead had our members that make Romulan characters join our KDF or fed fleets.

    3) Our fleet structure dates back to before launch. We were more into RP back then. We had far more people in leadership positions than was necessary. However, things have changed quite a bit since then. Many have moved on to play other games, and few of the original leadership remain. Plus, many players have numerous alts which makes putting them in a certain division difficult. Thus, the divisions nowadays are more for administrative purposes only. I reckon most of our members aren't even aware of what division they are in, as it really has no impact on their gaming. We have become much more casual over the years. We have 3 main 'leaders' in the fleet, and all 3 of us have been playing STO from the beginning.

I guess just to add, we are a pretty 'no muss no fuss' kind of fleet. You have the freedom to do whatever you want in game, and play however you want. You can donate however much to the starbase as you like. We don't have meetings or require that you play specific content. We don't require attendance at events. When I say we are casual, I really do mean we are casual. We do have rules about griefing and certain chat topics. We do have a minimum fleet credit contribution if you want access to the fleet store and gear.

I hope this helps. :) Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions.

Yes and no. How's that for a non-answer? :) But let me explain. We will occasionally have an 'official' fleet event. For example, a couple of months ago, we had a fleet treasure hunt. This was an official event sponsored by the leadership with prizes and all. We've also had a PVP dogfight tournament, a foundry contest, and KDF kerrat night. But these are not a very frequent occurrence. What is more common, however, is someone in channel just starting and private STF, and asking for participants - "LF4M CSE. x for invite". They are very impromptu, and happen throughout the day. You may have a harder time convincing people to run some types of content, like ground STFs, but usually you can otherwise get a group together. I guess this speaks to the casual nature of the fleet. It might be a little too casual for some, but that's how we roll. And I'll certainly understand if you are looking for something more organized. Any member of the fleet is able to set up a fleet event in the 'events' tab if there is a specific mission you want to do at a specific time.

After discussing it with my fiance and reading over all the sites and such, we have decided to accept the 44th Fleet's offer of recruitment. Thank you to everyone who took time to send a pitch our way. It was a hard choice, honestly. Even if I didn't end up joining your fleet, you can always call on me in-game if you need an extra hand.

latinumber--I created a thread on the 44th recruitment forum. Thanks!
