I'm currently level 22, and I'm kicking butts everywhere with my heavy cruiser. I'm always at starbase 24 trying to get dilithium, I spent about four hours popping Borg with my mini gun and bat'leth at defari. I was promised dilithium, I instead got skill points and items. I'm not saying that the items were bad, I got two mkii quantums from Borg. But I got ZERO dilithium. I need help:(

At level 22 you dont need to be worry about dilithium. In fact, you should not, since most of the daily missions that grants you dilithium are limited to higher levels, and some others are only available after you complete some later episodes in your levelling arc. But if you want a little dilithium, just do DOFF assignments. If you are a KDF, do marauding missions and farm contraband (5 contraband = 2000 dilithium).

And dont waste time on zones like starbase 24, there are A LOT of better and funny ways to adquire dilithium or watever you want to. You just need a lot of time to discover all of it.

A spotlight foundry mission will give @2400dil but if you get the "Investigate officer reports" mission before you start it you get an extra 960dil. Also, doing the hourly continued support rep projects gives a better return for marks, 15m for 340dil. Plus you get some good gear.

Very surprised no one mention the Lore Mission at the Academy. It's the easiest 480/500 dil in the game. You just answer the question takes 10-15 seconds to do. Just open your browser and go to gamepedia I believe or search Sto Lore on Google for the the page and save to favorites for quick access.

Dino tagging is the most efficient. I am surprised that no one has mentioned or I over looked it. 2.5 hours this last Monday I managed to grind almost 50k and another 30 k in mark and item turn in.

Pick a zone help it and move on to the next zone when that one is done. Rinse and repeat.

everybody keeps saying use your kdf as a farmer. i say delete the fed toon and just play KDF not nearly as much stuff to waste money on but what we have is much better.
other than lockbox ships SOME of most desirable items in lock boxes are kdf consoles that the feds cried to get.

for me i am down to 9 toons i use for this sort of thing but i just run ISE and CCE with 4 of them then log it off and do it again with the next and so on by the time the 4th one is done the cool down on the 1st is completed. and do it all over again only take 3 cycles to max out dill on 4 toons 32,000 dil a day when i need dil. but most of the time i don't worry about even getting dil on my main. and if im in a real hurry and need allot of dil after the 4 are maxed i do it all over again with for other toons turning it into 64,000 dil in a day ... It is a little time consuming but if you really want the dil 4 hours of solid gameplay for 64k isnt a bad trade off one day a week then just do what you want the rest of the week and dont worry about farming. or become a dil baron and grind it everyday and become insanely rich. 448,000 refined dil in a week. current rates of exchange thats 2,800+ zen a week

i do the confiscate contraband and raid doff mission but sell the contraband on exchange to feds for insane profits. you know the old saying. a fool and his money shall soon be parted. well that holds true when it comes to the feds.
edit: For now the only useful fed toon is a ferengi. because you can buy basic upgrade kits from vendors for 8k and sell on exchange almost instantly for 16k wich directly relates to the the above statement.

Those amounts are what you end up with REFINED at the end of the day not stockpiled to refine and use at a LATER date. its i want it now dil on demand.

I wrote this for Dilithium Weekend farming, but you can use the same tips for regular Dilithium farming.

With another dilithium weekend approaching, I wanted to write up the steps I took last time out to accumulate dilithium. I made over 300k on my main last time out, and hope to do better than that this time around. The steps described here took me from close to four hours each day, and it's definitely not something one would want to do every single day. But with the bonus in dilithium we get, I think it's worth putting my regular gameplay aside for a weekend and working to maximise my dilithium.

Just a reminder, during the bonus weekend, all missions and assignments that award dilithium pay an additional 50%, except for mining. Mining pays an additional 100%. So if you don't do anything else, I recommend you mine. A T3 fleet mine has three mining assignments, that normally pay out a max of 2.5k dilithium. Add to that the dilithium from the mission Asteroid Mining, that is a total of 3.5k. If you have a Rich Dilithium Claim, that adds another 5k. 3.5k + 5k = 8.5k. Double it and you end up with 17k dilithium. Over the five days of the event, you can mine six times, which gives you 102k. JUST FROM MINING!

Speaking of Rich Dilitihum Claims, let me mention a few things you can do in advance of the weekend, to help maximise your dilithium farming potential.

1 - If you can afford it, open a few lockboxes, preferrably Dominion boxes. You are lookig for Rich Dilithium Claims. There are two types. The Preferred with 6 claims and the VIP with 10 claims. Either one will do, as you can probably mine six times if you time it right.

2 - Also, if you can afford it, pick up a couple Reputation mark boosters. One of the things mentioned in this guide is to accumulate marks to turn in for dilithium. With Season 9, they added the bonus mark box you get daily for each reputation, so you will want to do a mission that rewards marks, so you can get the bonus. That way you should end up with at least 100 marks, maybe more to cash out for dilithium. I will mention the project names a little later.

3 - The day before the event, start all the mining missions, but don't do them. This way we get an extra play over the weekend. This guarantees you will get six turns at mining over the five days.

4 - Fill up on Colonists, either by purchase on the exchange or doing the DOff assignment Resettle Colonists. You don't want to be empty when you need them. KDF will need Prisoners too. If you haven't been keeping up on your Marauding, you may need to hit the Exchange for them as well.

5 - Grab your DOff assignments before the event begins, so you collect the payout during the event and get the bonus.

As far as DOffs are concerned, I only do the ones with higher than normal payouts 50 dilithium or more. Every time I change zones I check my Department Heads and see if they have new assignments for me. Below I have listed which assignments you should find under each officer. I may have missed a few, so if I did, let me know.

    Engineering Officer:
    Refuse Abandoned Orbital Minefield
Dilithium Mining in an Unstable Asteroid Cluster
    EVA Suit Training
Assist with Demolitions for Dilithium Mining

    Science Officer:
    (Science)
    Genetic Sequence Jem'Hadar DNA
    Telekinetic Scinece Methology Development
Replicate Shroud Process in a Lab Environment
Test Astrometric Theories Utilizing Nonstandard Methods

    Tactical Officer:
    (Military)
    Approve Jem'Hadar Boarding Simulation
    Engage in Riot Control Exercises
Evaluate Telekinesis for Field Security Applications
    Zero Gravity Combat Training
Forced Labor Requisition for ... (KDF Only)
    (Espionage)
    Interrogation Resistance Program
    Telepathic Interrogation Resistance Program
    Investigate Illegal Gambling

    Operations Officer:
    (Colonial)
    Relocate Colonists to Federation Borders
    (Development)
    Confiscate Contraband from Crew
    Participate in Parrises Squares Tournament
    Participate in Anbo-Jyutsu Tournament
    Participate in a Velocity Tournament

    Medical Officer:
    (Medical)
Approve Field Emergency First Aid Medical Training Program
    Recover Repressed Memories from Refugee

Also, on-board your ship, see the Science officer. under his special projects tab, he has four Data Sample Analysis assignments where you turn in quantities of crafting materials for dilithium. The amounts have changed with season 9.5. But if you have materials to spare, you can use them here.

    Now for the mission list.

    Sol System
History 102: Alpha Quadrant Mid term
    Foundry: Siren Star
    Investigate Officer Reports *
    Turn Over Contraband

I take a foundry mission as this point to generate EC. The foundry farm missions will net you between 300k EC an 700k EC. I then take that EC and buy Contraband on the exchange and then head up to ESD and do Turn Over Contraband. You get the dilithium from the foundry farm, from Investigate Officer Reports and the Contraband turn in.

    Beta Ursae Sector Block
    Asteroid Mining
    Rich Dilithium Claim
Fleet - Mine Impure Dilithium Crystals
Fleet - Mine Pure Dilithium Crystals
Fleet - Mine Rich Dilithim Crystals

While you're at the fleet mine, be sure to grab the mining DOff assignment Extract Colossal Dilithium Ore Deposits.

    Orellius Sector Block
    Aiding the Deferi
    Rescue Deferi Captives
    Emancipation
STF - Infected: The Conduit (Elite)
Task Force Omega - Ongoing War Efforts
Task Force Omega - Elite Special Task Force Completion

If you have not completed the first two missions of the Breen storyline, the first three missions above will not be available to you. I also do an STF at this point, because it fits, thematically. After you have the Omega marks, open Omega rep and run project Ongoing War Effort to turn in 50 at a time for dilithium. Also, you can turn in Neural Implants for dilithium with assignment Elite Special Task Force Completion.

    Eti Eridani Sector Block
Traelus System - Satellite Repair (Aldebaran Sector, Traelus System)
Sh'mar - Distress Signal (Donatu Sector, right of Zibal System from Deep Space K-7)
Defense Contract (Donatu Sector, Alhena System)
    Nukara Strikeforce: Ongoing Strikeforce Aid
    Drozana - Foundry - Unholy Alliances 2.0
    Investigate Officer Reports *

The foundry mission Unholy Alliances 2.0 is a feature mission, and pays a dilithium bonus. It is also fairly fast, I can run through it in less than ten minutes. Any mission on Nukara that pays Nukara Marks will award the Marks bonus, so you can do one of the easy ones fairly quickly. I try to grab a couple team mates and do the outdoor medium missions. They go by rather fast that way and you can probably get do another Ongoing Taskforce Aid. Also as of season 9.5, Nukara Ground missions pay Dilithium based on an estimated time it should take to complete.

Omega Leonis Sector Block (KDF Only)
    Empire Defense Federation
    Empire Defense Romulan
    Empire Defense Cardassian
    Empire Defense Borg

These missions are givne out by Mara on the Challenge Floor in First City. There are tutorials that have to be done to open up the dailies if you haven't done them before. But the tutorials pay dilithium as well.

    Pi Canis Sector Block(KDF Only)
Pi Canis - Path of the Warrior
    Pi Canis Sortie Alpha
    Pi Canis Sortie Bravo

These are KDF only, and have you running across the sector block, earning 4k dilithium when all completed. Just a note. On your map, the section Federation Transport Attack shows up between the Danteri and Laurentian systems. This not where you will find it. It is a moving convoy, and your best bet to catch it is to stay near the Kern system. It eventually flies past it.

    Tau Dewa Sector Block
    On the Desert Front
    Creatures of the Desert
    Orion Contraband
    New Romulus: Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts

I do the Tau Dewa Patrol to get my Romulan marks, and then run the project Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts. Or you can do ground missions on New Romulus. As of season 9.5, ground missions there also pay out dilithium based on an estimated time to complete. Then on to Nimbus III. If the mini-missions pop up while I am there, I will do them, but I won't wait around. Once I am finished here, I head to the Dyson Sphere.

At this point you have probably been at it for 2 – 2 ½ hours. You can stop here if you feel fatigued, or continue on with the battlezones.

    Voth Battlezone
    Defeat Voth in Battlezone
Call in Reinforcements at Capturede Poings
    Secuire Voth Points
    Acquire Battlezone Command Credits
Dyson Joint Command: Ongoing Efforts Against the Voth
Dyson Joint Command: Provide Cybernetic Inplant Samples to Dyson Joint Command

Take the dailies in the battleground command center, and while out fighting, collect pink dots and call in reinforcements. You will finish they off fast. Then just play the battleground. Cash out your Dyson marks and Cybernetic Implants when you're done.

    Undine Battlezone
8472 Counter-Command: Onging Efforts Against the Undine
    8472 Counter-Command: Provide Isomorphic Injections to 8472 Counter-Command

Then finally play the Undine battleground earning and then cash out your Undine Marks and Isomorphic Injections.

I know this is a lot of moving around, and one could just sit in a battleground all day, but I would get bored out of my mind. So I travel doing all the various dilithium missions. Good luck your quest to maximise your dilthium earnings.

    For me:

DOff, DOff, DOff throughout your game shift - some give rewards in Dilithium and depending on the success quality more than the posted amount for the mission.

Then Open a Mining Claim and go to the mines. After you complete the claim, open another one and mine it. You will then be gated out for 20 hours. (This may be an exploit) Total time here is about 10 minutes.

By the end of your gaming shift you will (should) have more than the 8K refined Dilithium. Do this daily and you will (should) actually have a surplus of Dilithium ore.

So, for me, no STFs, no patrol missions - but I am constantly Doffing in sector space everywhere I go and that is more of a "job" than mining.

This is my method too. I like that I can do all the missions that I want and not need to worry about STFs.

    Queued Missions / STFs

I do CCE and one or two Borg elite STF queued missions for dilithium. They reward 960 and can generally be completed in 10 - 15 minutes each. However, the rewards will change when DR is released.

Normal = 240 Dil; currently it is 480 dil.
Advanced = This is what the current elite queues will be called when DR is released; 480 Dil, currently it is 960 dil.
Elite = This is the new version of elite. Ships will likely have stronger hulls and probably do more damage as well. All optional objects from Normal and Advanced are now requirements. The reward is 960 Dil.

    ===================================

Spotlight Foundry Mission + Investigate Officer Report Mission

I also do one or maybe two Spotlight Foundry missions per day. The actual Spotlight missions itself will only reward dil once every 20 hours.

    - Investigate Officer Report = 960 Dil reward for completing any Foundry mission; not just Spotlight. 30 minute cooldown so it can be repeated multiple times per day. This mission can be found in the "Available" tab of the mission log.

    - Vulture Wheel - KDF mission in Eti Eridani Sector Block. Time to complete <10 minutes. Reward is 1,440 Dil. My personal best time is about 7 minutes. About half the time is used for changing maps. Only one required space combat against a single Hirogen ship that is fighting 3 Gorn ships. Optional ground combat against 4 or 5 enemies. The rest is short dialog.

    - Sword of the Kuvah'Magh - Fed mission in Regulus Sector Block. Time to complete ~ 12 minutes. Reward is 1,440 Dil. Two space combat situations and one ground combat (on board a starship). I have gotten some decent ground armor / shield from this mission.

If you play more than one Spotlight Foundry mission within 20 hours, you will not get any Dil reward. However, you still can get the 960 Dil when you accept the Investigate Officer Report. So not a bad way to get another 960 Dil for your daily quota, but naturally it becomes repetitive if you do the same Spotlight Foundry mission.

    ================================

    Doff Missions

This has already been covered. But I will just generally comment on what I do.

Fed - Most missions do not reward that much Dil, even on critical success. I simply look for ones that rewards 50 dil in the Engineering and Military sections; critical success gives 250 dil I think. However, because decided to tryout the new crafting system, most of the missions I choose are the ones that reward R&D materials. Settling colonists on a world will reward you with 500 dil which is pretty good.

The "Turn Over Confiscated Contraband" mission rewards 2k Dil and as long as you use a security officer or at least a blue (might be green) Doff of a different specialization, this mission will never fail. There is also no critical success for this mission. However, you need 5 contraband to do this mission. Contraband is not very easy to come by for Fed toons, because there are not too many missions that rewards contraband. However, for KDF toons getting contraband is much easier since there are more missions that rewards contraband.

    "Turn Over Confiscated Contraband" mission:
    http://sto.gamepedia.com/Assignment:_Turn_Over_Confiscated_Contraband

Missions that reward contraband. Note, this is not a complete list of missions, but it has most of them:
    http://sto.gamepedia.com/Contraband#Acquisition

I think the most dilithium I have received when I load up on Doff missions overnight and turn them all in the next day is about 3.5k.

KDF - There are plenty of Doff missions that reward Dil. The best are the "Forced Labor..." missions that can be found in sector space. These missions requires 4 prisoners each and they can generally be purchased from the Exchange for less than 10k EC each; I have never paid for than 12k EC. A full brig of 20 prisoners means you can do 5 of these mission at once assuming that many are available. With a normal success (this mission can fail) you get 500 Dil; with a critical success you get 1.5k Dil. Therefore, 5 successful missions will reward a total of 2.5k Dil, while 5 critical successes will reward a total of 7.5k Dil. I have never had more than 3 out of 5 critical success; but a total of 5.5k Dil is not too shabby.

The link to various ways of getting contraband that I provided above seems to exclude various "Strike / Raid" missions against Federation Facilities. This are 45 minute Doff missions that should all reward 2 contraband on normal success. A critical success rewards 5 contraband and usually some prisoners. If your brig is full because all the prisoners have been sent on "Forced Labor" missions that have not completed yet, then you will not be able to collect your reward from critical successes until your brig have enough empty slots for new prisoners. I don't track how much Dil you get from these mission 'cuz all I really care about are the contraband.

There are a few personal missions that reward 500 dil (maybe one or two offers more), but at the cost of losing at least one of your Doff depending on the mission. These missions include "Execute Incompetent Officer", "Execute Mutineers" and "Execute Changeling Spy".

The most Dil I have every received with a KDF toon when I turn in missions that have been competed overnight is about 8.5k dil which basically covers than the daily refinement cap.

I remember reading one of the early posts in this thread about doing one of each borg ESTF and CCE. Been doing that for a month now and it's a pretty easy way to do it. Below are the times on my best ship:

    Infected = 7 min
    Khitomer 7min
    Cure 7 min
CCE (choose Nukara marks as reward) 9 min

-convert Nukara marks to dil ~1k worth of dil
-convert 3 neural processors into 1k dil
-convert remaining omega marks into dil (varies)
-dil from completing all optionals ~4k dil

That's 6k plus a couple more from mark conversions. I normally am able to convert 2-3 stacks from the CCE Nukara marks so thats 1k-1.5k. The Omega marks is around 2-3 sometimes less if i get a scrub group and we fail optionals. But all together it only takes me 25-30 minutes in my best ships, probably 40 at the worst (which includes other party members who are scrubby).

The best way is to be a kdf, farm contraband and just doing a tour to the dyson battlezone. If happens that you are in the process of completing the dyson rep, use that "motive" to gather dilithium at the same time.

Lets say. As a KDF toon, you have 2000 for returning contraband the first time you login (you need to put the mission before you go to bed.. xD). Then you collect it and you do the mission again to gather other 2000 in 4 hours. You have now 4000 dilithium.

The dyson battlezone can give you about 4000 dilithium in a complete run , plus the missions on the battlezone.

Total, more than 8000 dilithium. In about 1 hour. Plus, as a kdf you will be doing a few return prisoners missions, that give you 500 dilthium each, 1500 on critical. Do the maths and you will have about 10000 dilithium everyday, far more than you can refine.

Foundry missions are another source. For KDF side, "Vulture Wheel", and for starfleet "Unholly alliances 2.0 part 1", located in drozana station. Those two take less than 10 minutes to complete each, once you know how they work. Specifically the starfleet mission can be done in about 5 minutes lol.

Nukara, defera, new Romulus all had dilithium added. Nimbus, traelus, foundry spotlights and dson sphere have not had theirs reduced. Your statement is thus provably false, they did not Nerf the entire game. Please, lets try to keep hyperbole in the general forum. The academy still works as a place for people to get help. I think we can agree its nice to have such a place.

Dyson ground battlezone is the fastest way imho. though nerfed still with a team instance hopping and a bit of luck you'll have enough dil within an hour for the entire week.

other good options are to do different pve's so you get the daily mark bonus to turn into dil.

DOFF assignments ofcourse and the free dil for Lore at the academy.

Is there a good guide to Dilithium farming somewhere? I've searched but I can only find outdated ones that don't work anymore because lot's of things have changed.

I'd like to know how to get all the Dilithium I can every day.

its not hard. Buy some character slots. Make rom-kdf farmer toons. Do DO assignments for contraband. Turn it in. If you get behind, do empire defense with a high damage farmer... takes about 10 min each for a total of over 5k dil (requires being leveled up).

Also level up these alts. Do the rep grind and reap the rewards. Example... mine just now got their DR rep completed --- I had farmed the marks during mirror universe at DR launch, waited for 1 char to pass them the double rep speed token, and bam... this week 6 or so characters have 30k dil to refine. And back when they did the MU event -- I earned enough dil to buy a t6 zen ship. Having them ABLE to do the special events, and then running them all through it daily when it happens.... you get a lot that way.

The key is to have as many alts as you can handle --- each can refine 8k / day. If you had 10 alts, and you "only" got 4k/day on each, that is still 40k /day. And getting 50% of the daily cap is quick and easy, thats a lot easier than hitting 8k on 5 toons every day!!

    I'd say, go STF.

If you have a good fleet who knows what they are doing, so you are no longer dependant of PUG's, you can do Infected and Khitomer together in 30 minutes.

Assuming you convert every reward to dilithium, the minimum you get with the optional done per STF:
    - 960 dil for completing
    - 65 omega marks (worth 650 dil, project for 50 marks = 500 dil)
    - 1 Neural processor (worth 200 dil, project for 5 processors = 1000 dil)
So the minimum is worth 1810 dilithium. And you are often above the minimum, for example,
    - you can gain up to around 120 omega marks = 1200 dilithium
    - you can earn up to 14 processors = 2800 dilithium
So the max is: 4960 dil per run. This means you have to have a good team, a good build and a little luck.

And if you do, say Khitomer and Infected (the easiest 2), you are done in 30 minutes and will have earned at least 3620 dil and at most 9920 dil.

That is how I grinded a few ZEN ships anyway.

It's 3 neural processors for 1000 dil, so it's 333.333 dil per processor. Not 5.

Check the date of the post you replied to. At the time, June 2013, you had to turn in 5 processors for 1000 dil ore.

I think it changed with or after introduction of the Dyson Sphere reputation.
