please help an Engineer

Hi i am new an only been VA for a weekm and is looking in to make a VA ship. But cant find out what to put on it. And my Doff is out off my knowing also so if you can help me a littel there also.

    1st do you like space or ground combat most or a mix?

    when you save the build it gives you a link if you post that the community should be able to give you some pointers i have fed, kdf, rom engineers most do a combo of ground and space so maybe able to help a little

    It'd help if you knew what ship you want...

    If you are thinking of a Zstore ship, I'd pick :

    Tax powers - Regent
    Pure tankiness - Oddy
    Sci powers : Eng Vesta


    If your thinking a tanky ship, Go with the MACO SET.
    If you want survivability, I'd recommend the Borg set, as the 2 set bonus provides good regeneration ability, and the three piece set bonus provides a energy sapping tractor beam.

    This is my personal build for a engi cruisers, it works quite well for PVE

    Deftlect : adapted Borg mkxii
    Engine : adapted Borg mkxii
    Shield : MACO Mk xii


    For weapons :Torp, DBB, Beam array, Beam array
    Aft weapons : Torp/mines, Beam array, Beam array, Beam array.

    Engi consoles : Armour/Power boosters/RCS (I personally use a combination)
    Sci : Special consoles/Shield boosting consoles
    Tac : Just fill it with whatever console boosts the energy type of beams you chose to using



    Oh, and I'd definitely reccomend choosing the "Grace under fire" perk!

    i was thinking a Oddy. and i can see you have beam? is any kind off beam better the other i mean phaser or what kind ?

    My build is what i need. My build right now is more or less random

    p.s. i am a space dude not much ground combat if any

    Any beam is good, just make sure you stick with one energy type (Too many types drains so much power, lowers your overall dps)


    Personally i like Phaser (As it's what the use in the tv series) and it has average DPS. If you can afford a decent set of Tetryon of the exchange, that has bonus shield draining abilities which is also good.

    Nanite Disruptors (Expensive on the exchange at the moment) are also effective, if you can afford the EC.

    Unless you really want to, i'd avoid plasma (It does have the lowest overall damage, i think)

    kinda of a cookie cutter build i use on my engineers which allows for training all captain trainable skills for an engineer and gives pretty good dmg anything more than 6pts in a skill generally only nets you 15extra points in a skill not really worth it unless your min/maxing for max damage but for a general build try this

    oddyssy gives you a 10th console which is nice but you can also go

    which gives you the wide angle quantum and essentially the same setup as a tac focused oddy just that you can actually use the torp while broadsiding which I find fun in my galor

    although I do favor the sci version of the oddessy because you get sensor analysis
