Hello,
Since the last update that 'fixed' a few things I've been trying to complete the Crystalline catastrophe STF... But to no avail as of yet, from about 10 to 15 attempts. Mostly I go in and see that:
1.) Those large fragments spawn very fast, much faster than before LoR
2.) Those large fragments seem to spawn in great numbers (even with one player there's from 4 to 8 of them)
3.) Those large fragments move a bit faster than they did before LoR
4.) The Entity moves now (albeit - not as much as when LoR went live, but still moves)
5.) The Entities health doesn't regen as fast as it did when LoR went live - albeit more so than before LoR.
6.) Almost "everyone" I've observed playing (played with) seems to try to play it the same way as it was before LoR went live. (The result of that is to see the rest of the players running around with 4 to 8 or more large fragments chasing them! Albeit - it was funny at first, but not so much now since most of them get killed or drag those large fragments to other players - getting them killed.) I see a lot of players trying to swoop near the entity and either attack with what they got, or try to lay a ton of mines... Others try to stand off at range and attack.
In one of the missions, as with all of them - everyone left so I decided to check some things out, all by myself. I did notice 8 of those large fragments coming out in groups of 4, first one group would come out and then a few seconds later another group. They followed my T'varo even with the cloaking device activated (maybe that was due to the entire 'mission', donno). With 8 of them, I couldn't kill them all by myself, even with the destablized torp. I probably should try it with my Andorian, see if it goes better
Anyway, I couldn't effectively cause enough damage to the entity by myself. What I ended up doing was to attack the entity, pull away kill the fragments, then go and try to attack the entity again. But after about 3 rounds of doing that, I couldn't attack the entity long enough and it's healing was greater than the damage I was causing. So...
With the above observations I've come to the conclusion that one way to quickly finish the mission would be to have a couple of "DPS'ers" and the a couple of "DPS-Protectors" and one floater. The DPS'ers would scoot within the 10km range (not less than say 9.0). They would directly attack the entity. The DPS-Protectors would scoot to about the 10.5km range, their job is to kill all large crystals - and from what I've observed there's a lot of them. The floater's job is to help out with the DPS-Protectors and maybe attack the entity - if there's enough DPS from the Protectors to do so. When the entity is absorbing power, everyone's far enough to be able to scoot out of the way; and redirect towards the Tholians. And then, do it all over again.
I've recommend this many times, probably about 5 time so far but... Can you guess? No one responds at all; and each and every attempt fails
In that one mission I checked things out... "We" got the entity down to 63 percent, and that was about a half-hour long, then people started leaving...
Has anyone else seen these observations? Can someone confirm them? If someone's in a large fleet, could you test this out and give us feedback please?
Thanks!

There is a safe spot to hide from the shockwave. You can go to 10+ kliks range, OR just fly ontop ( basically inside its top crystal spike ) of the CE to under 2 kliks range and the shockwave wont hit you.
Dont know if it works on elite difficulty but it certainly works in normal, I have tried a dozen of times already and its working.

The difficulty is fine as it is. Just the design flaw of being able to strip the buffs must be corrected and debuff skills added to all three classes and their skills. Basically you have no ability to win if you are thrown in with only Engineers or Tacticals because they can only pew pew and nothing more.
