Ok guys I know that we have fleet ships and that's our one of the best ships we can get in the game but I am wondering if there will be something else later on or soon that will make something better but I am not saying Fleet ships will be useless I am just curious on what's next???

I think the devs are hesitant to introduce a new tier of ships considering everything they sell now is tier 5.

There were rumours of a full Admiral ship, T6 versions of a 'ships of the line' type or 'command ship'. The concept discussed was having 2-4 of your own officers, flying ships from your toons collection as a task force.

The basics of this theme are already at play; fleet and reputation ships you call as support do respond to carrier commands, but only if you are flying a carrier.

However this next generation T6 ship has not been confirmed by dstahl.

After today's interview, the focus on season 9 & 10 will be endgame scenarios,; a serious update to STF's and their next versions. No mention of a T6 ship.

I don't know if tier 6 ships are possible. I could see a mission where you can play through something like a featured episode and the final reward would be a way to refit one ship to have an extra console or bridge officer slot of your choosing. Another option would be to sell enhancements to ships through the zen store similar to how there are ways to increase cash caps and bank slots. for 300 zen each or something you could buy an extra console(s) slots, extra Boff slot (this could be either an additional ensign slot or increase one slot up a rank) extra device slots, or an extra weapon placement (fore, aft, or both). adding up all the possible upgrades could add up to 2k zen, or the cost of a new ship. People may not want all the possible slots, and if they are limited and not transferable once equipped on a specific ship it would make end game ships a more important choice for players and keep them more viable for every player.

If they ever do tier 6 ships I suspect it will be something like this that they can monetize.

    ^ This.
End-game is where they should really be spending the majority of their time developing in order to more flesh out the game. Also, PvP.

it wouldn't even be necessary to introduce another level of ship if they could balance the ones they have... and that hasnt been done yet...

    Lol, agreed

    They haven't yet.
I doubt it is past Cryptic to do just that.

I'd like to see them come out with a greater focus on cosmetics from equipped gear.
Equipping armor consoles results in having armor plating of different sorts appearing on the ships. Or tac consoles altering the color or appearance of weapon hardpoints, nothing glaring. More subtle.

Perhaps even change things up to where you are able to have a different visual of the weapon hardpoints depending on equipped weapon. If its an array it shows up as an array. If its some variety of a cannon you would see a cannon instead of an array.

I can't speak for everyone but for me it would really help me feel like I was still progressing in the game and not standing still. Much how the various 3 piece sets work now.

in reply to the posts above.

I do not think cryptic will add T6 ships that would make T5 ships outdated because no one would bother to spend 25 bucks or 50 bucks (3 pack) on useless T5 ships, and would not make cryptic more money.

adding console slots and boff slots for 300 zen would be cool but in my opinion would be extremely overpowered for wealthy players / unfair to casual players who do not wish to pay or grind that much.

all for more visuals from equiped gear, lets go fully borgified ships!

I would rather see some kind of EPIC game play that at the end allows you to upgrade your curent ship once only. something like the storyline for voyager, but for your character, or any story line as long as its EPIC in caps. could possibly give base upgrades to stats so your ship has more hull, shields, power etc. then some sort of special passive power for your ship, these could vary on ship type, for instance cruisers get 3 different passives, only 1 active at a time, same for escorts and science vessels. then you could get 3 powers based on capt career, same deal only one active at a time.

Cryptic has talked about increasing Player ranks and making more ships available, but they've never mentioned a new tier of ships.

As has been said, introducing a new Tier of ships (and making all current ships, including C-Store, Lockbox, and Fleet ships obsolete) is a poor Customer Service move -- a lot of people aren't going to drop another $25 on a ship after having recently farmed out/purchased a Lockbox ship or $50 C-Store bundle.

Odds are, if they do increase the level cap to 60, they'll put in some ships exclusive to level 60 characters, as well as new abilities that allow us to use our older ships in drydock as Fleet Support ships, or perhaps in a Doff-like manner that they've discussed before (sending those ships out on missions with their own crew).

Personally, I would love it if Fleet Support pulled designated ships from our roster, without the need to be below 50% hull -- it would be awesome to see my old Defiant-R warp over to my side when I need it.

Cryptic isnt the problem with new content and balance . it is the investors running the show at PWE who say add this but make it 10%better than anything else and once the sales level then drop it to the corret level. They do this knowing everyone will say using X makes you OP and then everyone buys X. Every OP item goes through the same cycle and players ofcourse want to win and thus make the choice the coirrect one.

The devs would prefer to make it balanced and a better game, they like the rest of you must follow orders and so unbalanced OP gear gets introduced then after sales level it gets nerfed in preperation for the next big thing. Devs hate this BS as it is extra work and monkeys with their art. stockholders love it because everyone starts buying it, you all ignore your wallets screaming no and years of proof that it happens.

Enjoy that next OP item while you can shareholders will enjoy the money.
