Roms and warp core traits/skills?

Due to Romulans ships having the singularity core instead of warp core--a few questions:

1. Is the trait--"warp core specialist"-worthless for roms--or do can you still get the engine power and/or ESP boost?

2. Along the same lines--are the skills--"warp core efficiency" and "warp core potential" useless as well or can yo still get the power boosts from putting points in them? (if not --why do they even have them in the skill chain for roms)

technically roms have "Singularity warp cores" but they are just shortened to singularity core. any skills with warp core in the name will work with singularity cores.
