Cryptic !!!

Yes, straight as it is. While the Romulan expansion is neat, between the server hick ups , there is two points that are poking my attention :

- Whilst it was claimed by the devs or Cryptic that all ships of the chosen faction would be accessable, it's NOT. Forget it to get you quickly a Mirror Universe Advanced Escort for you nicely upgraded Fed Rommy or a Mirror Qin Raptor for your Level 50 KDF Reman. It won't work. Ships upto the level of captain are, but above is the access denied. Once more Cryptic has thrown dust into our eyes.

- Above point brings me to the next issue : as the Nukara and Romulan Reputation is granting us access to the respective Ultra Widow Figthers Hangar Pets and Ultra Scorpion Fighters Pets then hell, the Romulan themselves have no carriers and as we can't access those of the chosen faction (those are above level of Captain). It raises me the question : where or how are we able to use those with our rommies ???

furthermore, i am sure, Roms will get their own zen-store carrier eventually.

1. One of the Dev Blogs said that the VA ships from the allied faction would not be available to the Romulans.

2. I'm sure they're working on getting a carrier for the Rom's. They just spent the last six months or so working 6+ days a week getting the expansion ready. Let's cut them some slack.

Your first point: as much as I'd like to bash Cryptic myself, you're mistaken. It has been stated in a number of Dev Blogs that you would only get to pilot Fed/KDF ships up to T4. Mirror ships are T5, and therefore it's not Cryptic's fault. Cryptic didn't claim otherwise.

On your second point, it's been rumored that the upcoming Scimitar will be a carrier. However, at the moment, these pets are for cross-faction lockbox ships only.

It was never claimed that the full faction line of ships would be available to Roms. What would be the point in a Romulan line if that was the case?

Also yes, Dreadnought Carrier, Recluse Carrier, and very likely one of the next C-store ships for Romulans.

1) It was originally claimed in the first FAQ about LoR but Cryptic changed their minds when the player response was overtly negative towards Romulans flying either Federation or Klingon ships. Its simply not canon so Cryptic decided not to allow Romulans access to Tier 5 ships and higher. I think its a positive move to retain the unique elements of the Romulan Republic and their singularity powers.

2) The Romulans simply do not need a carrier, I was originally against the Federation having access to carriers because they very rarely use them in canon. There are a couple of non-canon instances and elements used in the Dominion War but on the whole, the Federation have never really been known to use carriers and it should have stayed as a KDF exclusive element to bring unique elements to all the factions.

Oh and I'm Federation all the way but thats because I personally like the faction over the Klinks. I would though like the Klinks to have more unique elements to them to stop harmonizing the factions. Because it would encourage both factions to have an equal balance of players and make the game more fun.

The issue with Romulans flying their ally ships at endgame wasn't a canon issue, it was an issue of balance between factions. If an allied Romulan had access to everything Romulans get, plus everything their ally gets including Tier 5 ships, why would anybody ever play a pure Fed or KDF? The game would've devolved into Romulans Online. But yes indeed, it was the player base that cried out and made Cryptic backpedal a bit on that. Because it was a bad idea, and they listened.

As for carriers, it's very likely the Scimitar will have a hangar bay (or two) since Shinzon's Scimitar is the ship that introduced us to Scorpion fighters in the first place. Be patient.

Looking into the known stats for the Scimitar, I reckon when they release it, it'll probably be in the guise of a tactical carrier, much like the fed carrier. Probably with the hull strength of the Jem equivelent

1: if I remember right, they just did not go into details. but considering how few ships the faction has, the lack of t5 access is an issue. t5 access long term, could have made the romulans the obvious choice for everyone instead of the other factions

2: they will release one later. as there arent many ships available for you, you will probably spend money on one existing, and after that they will sell new ones. it is a cheap selling point, and there should have been access to atleast the cstore ships on romulan side, just for the vareity (I doubt that there will be too many new ships for romulans, atleast not enough to bring them up on par with the klinks and feds - especially the feds)

yea, it was first mention that they would but shortly after they
changed there minds.

but it still would have been nice to at least give the
romulans access to the Vo'quv / Atrox carrier ships temporarily
till they came out with a scimitar...

- Tier 5 Ally ships are not available to Players, because Playerfeedback HERE ON THE FORUMS was loud and clear, WE did not want Romulans buzzing around in Fed+KDF Ships. And that is GOOD so.

- Scimitar is coming, and you can get 2 Carriers, Jem'Hadar and Tholian from the LobiStore. Those are the options right now, and you can be sure the C-Store will provide us with more options as time goes on.

I highly doubt that it was "player feedback" that they listened to, as opposed to my suggestion, that they just felt if they release a few rommie ships, people will waste their money on them, and then they can release the cooler stuff later, and people will have to waste even more money (plus they gotta spend money, as if there was access to t5, people woulda just gone for their already purchused ships).
I cannot believe that it was player feedback that made them decide they shouldnt do this (I rest my case with the "player feedback" posts on the forum, and the action taken on them, which is none)
