Romulan Ship Subsystem Power

I just noticed something odd, that I should have noticed a long LONG time ago. My Romulan Warbird only has 160 total subsystem power. Whereas my fed and KDF ships have 200. Did I miss something?
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

    I think youmissed something big.
Since the annoucement that Warbirds have a singularity core we've been informed that they have a base power of 40 instead of the 50 matter-antimatter warpcores provide.

Yep, singularity cores have reduced power to compensate for the singularity abilities.

You're slipping, heretic. Too many late nights?

Heh... makes sense since in canon singularity cores aren't as powerful as matter-antimatter reactors.

No, just not reading carefully enough. It's what happens when you read too much. Your standard form of reading becomes skim with occasional focus on interesting(ish) parts. XD.

Which then makes me think. Are the singularity abilities really worth greatly reducing the power output of the reactors? But that's another thought for another thread for another time.

    Thanks for the answers guys.

Something to add, it's not just the singularity powers, but also the Romulan Battle Cloak. The singularity abilities, however, are very nice and flexible. And I think some of the c-store consoles make them extremely useful [of course, balance should be independent of those consoles].

I do miss that they didn't put in a mechanic for random self destructing if you go fast

The singularity abilities are debatable, but the rommie BC (and the associated shenanigans that come with a correctly Traited bridge crew) more than compensate for the minor power loss (a loss that is more than compensated for by the plethora of +power abilities and items available).

Power issues are easily offset by different abilities and BOFF / DOFF setups. Plasmonic Leach consoles available to both Fed & KDF. Not to mention the warbirds get combat abilities free of charge without having to stuff a console or BOFF ability. The singularity abilities are tied to the ship, not the singularity core you put in.

You should not have power issues with the Romulans. The free abilities (some good, some mediocre) more than make up for any negative effects.
